Found lots of ark/spod/crokite roids in the "hidden belts" or all by their lonesome in a dual mwd kestrel.
Twd from m0o managed to warp to someone at 1km after using scanner
Twd + scanner = perfect match

Ok I'll bite, being a newb and all. How is this possible? Only way I know how to create a bookmark is when you have your ship at that spot.

What infuriates me is the direction scan.... one minute it will show everything in 90, 60, 30, then nothing in 15, but click back to 30 and up, lo and behold, its all magically disapeared, even tho you can see a few planets etc within range, and direction

She can probably teach you This char is perm banned on forums :S |

I've found enemies hiding at safespots multiple times
Ie, not abandoned ships, but active battleship pilots hiding because they are outnumbered in local.
Sure was a nasty surprise for Xetic during our short war when I found them at safespots 2 times in 3 days
Unfortunately, I've only once came across an abandoned battleship parked in space, and that was parked there by a friendly pilot (who of course was told to remove it ASAP).
The scanner sure is a good friend.

I am told that those are the easiest spots to find.
Don't ask me how, only time I find anything is if someone gives me a bookmark to it lol.
Yes, indeed, it's far from impossible to find these. There are other ways to make safespots that are much much harder to find.

Those ARE actually quite easy to find.
I wount disclose this off course, but it is a combination of knowing how it works, and know how to use your scanner in several modes...
I found a ship 760 AU away from nearest celestial object, and it didn't take very long either, less than a hour...

I found 5 industrials fully loaded with arkonor once as well as 3 fitted out thorax's in the same spot. Man that was a pain in the ass to find though. I suck with a scanner... I think it took me like 3 days to find that crap.

How?
the max scanner range is 15 au or something like that -

The scanner seems like a very good tool and i've yet to master it.
If someone could write a bit of a better updated scanner guide than the one on eve-i im sure it'd be very popular.

I wount tell, you would be dissapointed how easy it is
I am sure many people other than myself have made a discorvey in the usage of scanner on all three modes and still be able to find ships well outside scanner range ... It is not a exploit or anything, just knowing how it all works.
So trust me, safespots hundreds of AU away from anything isn't all that safe.

but would literally take you years to get there, so it is pretty safe. -

Nope
A few hours at most to get within looting/killing distance. You are thinking wrong about how it's done ;)

YEs I am sure you are a magical being that can even exceed the maximum warping distance of a battleship that warps to a safespot. (about 560 AU)

Yeah, cause when you stop you can warp again... BTW, interceptors/shuttles warp at 6au/sec and a lot longer than battleships do.

I see someone doesn't have a clue about safespots and scanner.

A pod warps 3000+ au in one warp. Not to mention that you can warp again, again and again...

Here is how I use the scanner (apologies if this spoils anybodies secrets).
Scanner range is 14AU. Check out local system (F11). Make the biggest "box" around the system by using warpable objects. Line up two warp lines at the edge of the system. On each warp line, while warping place down bookmarks every ~20AU. Go back and warp to each one. Then warp from one warp line to another warp line, forming a grid around the system, at around 20 AU from each other. At each location, check out what is in the scanner. Remember the bookmarks are when you press end, not when you first bring it up.
Now that you have something interesting in the scanner, zero in on it. Use direction to get the rough location it is in. You can sort of triangulate it if you want. Use ~4 bookmarks that are around the location of interest, and warp amongst them. Use the same technique: While warping, bookmark as fast as possible. Go back over the bookmarks, and triangulate where the prey is.
Using this method you can get closer and closer to it. When you are close enough, fire up the dual MWD and fly in.

I have heard that there is away to warp past any warpable objects. But then I thought that was an exploit, and has been removed. Since we can't talk about it then, maybe two winks to say it was removed, and one wink to say it's still there, but not to use it?

One wink. But they are pretty useless IMO, would never use one.

I once helped a guy find his Moa. He'd ejected from it while it was still moving (D'oh!). This was prepatch when ships didn't stop when you ejected. I managed to get ahead of it in my Probe (again, prepatch when Probes used to REALLY shift), eject, and board it on the fly. Felt pretty pleased with myself, handed the ship over to the guy and he gave me a million Isk for my trouble, which was quite a lot to me.
Finding a moving object was much more of a challenge than a stationary one!
Other than that, where I responded to a specific distress signal in local, I'm not very good with the scanner. If I set it to really fine resolution, and use both hands AND a star chart, I can occasionally find my own arse. ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm a STARSHIP. * ========================================= |

Wow, I found the exact same number and type of ships last night in EC-P8R. I love it when people leave battleships in safespots that are EXACTLY between the gates. Free battleships make me happy :)

Found lots of safespots, only problem is that most of the time they log as soon as they see you in their grid (since the last patch, before they'd just warp to another safe spot)
