Ok i am currently skilling for command ships (30days to go, yay) because i am fixated on flying a ship with a huge tank. so i went for the vulture although i will have to cross train for caldari. i have the skills for a good passive tank, but my gunnery skills are really low (gunnery 5, small hybrid 5 and med hybrid 3). i relied on my drone skills so far. because the passive shield tank will have a low cap recharge rate i thought about putting artillery weapons on the ship. but i really don't know if these are any good in pvp. i could also put missile launchers on it, but then again i think i will have problems in pvp. if i put med hybrids on the vulture i will have to lower my tank a little bit. but then again i don't need to run the guns 24/7. my fear is that nos could become a problem.
what are your suggestions? i know the vulture isn't supreme in doing much dps but i want to fly something different from my dominix. please excuse mistakes, english is not my mother tongue

i would go for the med hybrids, the ship got bonus for them, which e.g. gives blasters a nice optimal range (dps ca. 440, if u go for null, dps is at ca. 370, blaster range 11+7.5))...the pure passive tank is only working in lowsec i guess, as in 00 u will need ur mwd + jump arround much more, furthermore the gang assist stuff needs quite a bit of cap (without gang assist, no sense in flying a vulture), in 00 i would go for buffer tank, which means u have cap for gam and turrets (coz of not using shield power relays)

Personally mate, i got a hp tank. It gives you more versatility when it comes to gang mods, cap for guns, and overall tank in gank scenarios. For example:
Passive recharge tank gives you 15k shield hp. 70-80% resists. 200 second recharge time. You'll be able to tank a good 1000 dps with that. (off the top of my head ofc) They have 15k shield to chomp thru
Hp tank gives you 30k shields, 85-90% resists, and 600 second recharge time. With that, you can tank 600 dps, and survive the alpha for nearly 3 times as long.
Combined with that, the hp tank has enough cap (PDU instead of SPR) to run ALL the mods indeffinately.
As for weapons, id go 200/250mm II, with faction Iron/Antimatter. Gives you a decent range (80km or so) along with a kick ass tank, and bonuses.
Hope this helps,

What do you intend to do with it? Just provide dps or are you planning on running 3 gang mods. If it is the latter, it doesnt really matter what weapons you use, since your main purpose is gang bonuses. If it is the former, then by all means - use the weapons the ship has bonus for.

One of my corp guys runs a Vulture with 3 links and 4 missile launchers and that seems to work ok... not huge on the DPS, but effective out to 50km or so.

Use rails and you have better dps at 20km, and longer range to 75km

3 ways to fit it-
1. huge shield buffer using lse and core defence + blatsers + web / disrupt
2. active tank + blasters
3. passive large tank + polycarb + hml

I fit rails now, but when I first got vulture I had like zilch hybrid skills, so HML2 worked well.
