I have spent the time since i have created this char working on getting him into a bs to run lvl 4s. Im now looking to go into pvp so i was wandering which you think is a better idea for pvp.
I dont know much about faction warfare so could someone explain to me if you can gatecamp, ransom etc. in the borderzones and which path is better? Im working on a Blasterax as a pvp ship.

I would recommend you try FW in something small. To at least get some pvp tactics in. Particularly the Gallente pilots who have pretty good pvp'rs.

FW is much more fun and active.
Also, pirating means that all those FW players around can and will attack you.
Edit: Also, FW has many good FCs (especially minmatar) which will give you a good feel for fleet combat in the future.

based n your general lack of experience which your post implies, you should go join the FW.
there is nothing stopping you becoming a pirate later on, but moving to piracy without any experience, friends, corporation, can be bad fast.
you will experience pvp, blobs, gangs, etc. in FW and you will get the experience you need for more pvp and piracy if you will still be looking into it, while still preserving your security status and perhaps making new friends.

Neither is better. Some people will have more fun doing FW, others doing piracy; some might even do both (or neither). Try both, see which you prefer. That's the best approach to this sort of problem. It's very liberating to play EVE determined to do whatever you want, rather than what others want you to do.

I was really psyched up to try FW, but the reallity was pretty boring; thats probably down to me and my unwillingless to group with the blob, off to 0.0 instead.

I really liked FW when I tried it today, got around 12 kills in my awesome little punisher in a frigate gang.
Only managed to find and post about 6 of them though...

I tried it off the bat and really liked it. The bad part is the FW for Minny/Amarr is in my backyard and I don't want to limit my targets. I now got a cheese filled caracal alt I'm flying around in.

Constant source of PVP and fun, FW.
Decent source of money but limited engangements, piracy.
With FW you can jump online and pew for a half hour, then leave.
Piracy is about the hunt, the camp, the payday.
Both activities are fun.

Do both. But dont expect to earn shedloads of isk pirating if you are new to it. Just use it as a bit of fun. You experience the funniest things pirating, especially in a cheap T1 frig. Just do mad stuff and get popped lots. You will end up loving it, and popping some larger ships now and then, and getting into some hilarious situations.
Dont be wary. Just get stuck in!!

You could join Gallente or Caldari without limiting your targets too much in Minmatar/Amarr space.

Jodo has it right. Hop into a naked clone (e.g., leave your implants behind) and go crazy (remember to upgrade your basic clone when you get podded). Lots of opportunities/time to pirate neutrals while waiting ages for militia fleets to get themselves organized, tbh. Have yer cake and eat it too!

You're doing it wrong, just pirate in Black Rise/Placid etc and just shoot everyone.
