 Well ppl i think it`s time to leave EVE, as a solo player i guess i`m just not good enough,it took me 11 months of scraping and dieing and buying and dieing to get me a BS, which has now been destroyed by MJAU cos she wanted 20 mill, ahh well thats life. Mind you EVE doesn`t help i think they have oriented the game in favour of lg corps and player pirates, when the game is suppose to be for everyone, yea i can hear you all say there is lots to do which there is but it`s so repetitive and why should we have to stay in safe space or join a corp, i want to be on my own to enjoy the game and to explore whithout having to look over my shoulder as soon as i leave 0.5 and going deep into 0.0 i know i would be in trouble from NPC rats and thats if you can get past the big boys again, you see there`s nowhere to go.

i hear ya.
with these new updates it will be difficult for any single ship to take down a battleship (unless its another battleship). makes situations like this alot easier to handle
i could tell you "ITS YOUR FAULT" for going into 0.0 space, not outfitting your ship correctly, flying without insurance, etc etc etc. but that wouldn't help matters any. I understand your loss and i'm sorry :
if you're qutting and you have ANY money.. i would recommend you put every dime you have into a bounty on the person who killed you.

Mjau.. lol she destroyed your battleship?
She's one of the 'kestrel alt 1.0 ganker' type pirates.I havn't even seen her in a cruiser yet, and she failed to get my industrial down to hull with her kestrel on multiple occaisions.She's very green indeed.
I honestly don't see how an 11 month old player loses a battleship to a total noob (and thats not a personal attack, Mjau  )

I see this happening more and more every week. People calling it quits after months-year of play because some jackass wants to destroy the game for someone in the span of 3 seconds
If you don't belong to an uber corp, or a "pirate" corp full of 9 year olds, there really doesn't seem to be much point in playing. I quit playing EQ and DAOC because of this same sort of crap. Guess it's time to look for something different.
oh, and yeah, I may be a carebear, but remember: Carebears pay the bills.

oh yes i had insurance, which just about covers ship but not equipment, also i was only in 0.2 and yes it`s all my fault as well cos i`m no good at pvp.

Well organized and/or large corperations/guilds will have an obvious advantage.. And there isn't a whole lot you can do about it, and it will always be that way no matter which online game you play.Well-run counterstrike guilds outperform those without Teamspeak and good teamwork.Well run DAoC guilds use class builds that work well together.I don't see anything wrong with this, its all part and parcel of online gaming.
Edit: yea silence, turns out she's not *that* green anymore. (born late feb) Still, you are a full 9 months older than her.Anyway good luck to you

I think this is your fundamental problem...
The main function of these type of games are interactions with other players, whether it be forming friendships, or making enemies...
In my time in EVE I have been a member of two great corporations, Everlasting Vendetta and m0o .. both of these corps although very distinct in their approach to EVE... they share the same values of teamwork and friendship... (and in the case of m0o blowing stuff up).
This teamwork and friendship have given me really great times on EVE and through this has put me in touch with friends like Redi, Joshua Calvert, Claveman, Synapse etc etc people that I can rely on.
If I was in the mindset to go out and do it on my own, I know I wouldnt have had half as much fun as I have experienced.
My advice : Dont be a hermit, go out and socialise with the other players, join a corporation that can stand up for themselves, and keep an eye out at all times.
Remember space is a dangerous place.
I wish you good luck on whichever path you choose to take.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been around about 11 months too, but I decided from very early on that I wouldn't go the battleship route - and I haven't. I still don't have the Battleship skill. I concentrated on Frigates and Cruisers and enjoyed that aspect of the game... but the new changes comming up are going to force me into investing in a BS because I specialise in missile warfare (mainly Torpedos and Cruise).
I also agree with you in regards to solo players and 0.0 space. There really should be more opportunities for solo players to venture in 0.0 without having to worry about gate-ganking player-killers all the time. More routes in 0.0 would help somewhat. Having to remain in Empire does get boring after a while but if you don't like PvP or being in an alliance then thats what your basically forced to do.
There a loads of players who prefer playing solo, but CCP don't cater one iota for them. They want everyone to be in large corps etc.
I think they'll only be happy when every single one of us belongs to one ginat mega-corp. Won't that be fun!

I understand the original poster totally, I have not engaged in too much pvp myself but i do intend to once I have a little more combat skills, heh soon(tm). It is harsh to loose all your hard work in just a few secconds.
If CCP ever do decide to make a server split they might want to consider making an extra server that is a little toned down in the pvp department but not completely eliminate it (specially that there is more and better player vs npc situation coming with the 'space dungeons'), that new server would be more appealing to the explorers, builders and traders among us. Since beta there was always 2 types of people that play EVE, people that enjoy and engage in pvp and people that dont, I think if CCP cant 'separate' those 2 types of players within 1 universe then they might consider creating a new one for them.
Of course the griefers will not like this idea cos that makes for less easy targets for them.

I'd hazard a guess that most games of this genere have just as many solo* players as there are players playing in large established corps/guilds.
* by solo I mean players that play the majority of their gametime alone OR with a very small circle of friends.
These types of games should cater for all types of players, not just those who like to 'socialise' in large groups. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what MMORPG stands for, its the number of happy customers that keep it going that counts.

I see this statement alot and I dismiss it, certain people have a solo style of play, they like to trade/explore/build in a universe that is full of real people, they want to sell the stuff they make/loot to real people, they enjoy the hustle n bustle of an 'alive' universe. Just because they want to make it on thier own does not mean they should have to resort to playing single player games. It boggles me why MMOG companies always have to push everyone towards the big corp/guild style of gameplay, not everyone wants that.

When the game is about alliances, factions and corporations controlling territory...
Dont you think it would be a little more prudent to seek out diplomatic relations with said entities so you have some backup/protection if the the proverbial sh*t hits the pan?
At the end of the day... you went somewhere without adequate protection and got stung ... lesson learnt ... move on ... do better next time.
Dont expect that just because you want to be on your own that every other player should let you waltz in on their party/territory which they have claimed.
Its just common sense...

You have a good point Draximus but now i have a question for you, if you see someone enter 'm0o space' lets say this person is not a noob they have been playing for 6 months (you know this cos you can see it on thier profile) they are in thier newb corp still or another small corp that is not know for agressive actions, this said pilot is alone and flying a battleship or maybe even a cruiser, do you really consider this to be a threat? this is not directed at m0o corp alone, I'm just trying to understand the mentality of large corps outside empire space in general.
Blow them to pieces if they cross the line, call them carebears if they dont, i guess there is no place for solo players in EVE after all.

Some people like to interact with people etc. Thats why they play MMORPG's. Just because some people like to go solo when doing things, dosnt mean they are playing the wrong game.
