Aside From Bragging Rights you say? This New Devblog may hold some Answers
Here is a Sample:
"That is now about to change. Starting in the middle of May CCP began to create a direct link between the evolving story of EVE and the actual game environment. This has been done a few times before in very limited circumstances but the path we are on now is really unprecedented. " Yeah I'm an Alt- Go cry elswhere |

A pretty good read, very exciting possibilities coming up! Good to hear that CCP wants to draw on the story telling skills of the community here, hopefully this works out well.
The only part of the article I found disturbing was: "Eventually, we hope all players will become involved in Alliance activities, once they become experienced pilots and wise to the ways of EVE."
Is Alliance warfare really the endgame of Eve?
And the sky is filled with light, can you see it? |

There is no such thing as an endgame in EVE. The term "endgame" comes from MMOs that force you to grind for months before the game starts being fun (if it ever does at all).

Remember that involved doesn't just mean shooting at or getting shot at. There's economics and industry to consider too, you know. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

It must have been a brutal wake-up call when CCP realized that they had created WoW in space - a MMORPG with no RPG elements outside the machinations of a limited number of players.
We can only pray that CCP does not loose their way again and revert to their evil ways. No one likes a MMOG, everyone loves a MMORPG.
To CCP: Hold off on the 'bling' until you have a decent way of introducing it. And for the love of goddess, stop writing game changing plot lines while under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

Good point.
And I meant to use 'end game' loosely, meaning generally the place where players spend their time once they've achieved large wallets and large skill points. Generally being the key word.
