Just a note for anyone with multiple installations of Eve on one or more machines.
Once the first Launcher has downloaded and run before clicking the [Play] button note the small spanner button at the top right of the screen. Click this and in the window that opens click the GÇÿPatchesGÇÖ tab. This will allow you to save and reload the patch to save you downloading it many times.
You may still have to download the Launcher for each client before you can use the saved patch. This should only need doing once for each client and it will automatically update from there on.
There are other setting within this settings window you might like a quick look at as well.
Otherwise, set a long skill, and good luck to all, may the patch be with you . |

In addition to patchnotes: Over 9000 of secret unpublished modules removed from inventory. We dont need that junk anyway. First world problem resolved: word "Defence" changed to "Defense" in item names and descriptions. Iteron Mark IV Quafe Ultra Edition, Men's 'Quafe' T-shirt YC114, Women's 'Quafe' T-shirt YC114 were added to inventory. 'Exotic dancers" renamed to "Exotic Dancers, Female". "Exotic Dancers, Male" added. Also item renames from devblog (excluding missile launchers): http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=9130

"Control towers in wormhole space no longer reveal distance in the Control Tower Management window."
This has an odd consequence for role players. In the AJ project (specifically, project compass; its in the Wiki) the location of several stars in w-space was determined by placing POSes in those systems, seeing their distance to POSes in known space, and doing the math. With this change, that method will no longer work. OK, but what about the previous results? The RP community needs to decide if those results should remain valid.
CCP: Were we role players making use of a feature you never intended to be part of the game? If so, then the Project Compass results need to be discounted. It would be like it never happened. And it was an huge amount of work and isk to get those results.
CCP: Does this change to distance readouts have a lore type reason why it suddenly changed? Or should we consider that it was always not working for W-space POSes and toss out all our work? I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

For number 2: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU CCP! I remember putting in this request.
For number 1: I'm wondering why the button has been added to the Modify Order window. Seems like you would check its market details first, then decide on whether or not it needs to be updated, no? Am I missing? |

Got me for a bit to. Then I noticed the word or was exchanged for and:
"open OR close the window rather than open AND close the window"
So it use to be you would double click and see a window open on the first click and immediately close on the second. I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

I really miss seeing what day it is on the lower left corner of my screen, above the Eve Time. This feature was added when the Calendar function was added to the client some time back.
When the new Neocom was released, the date display went away. I've looked all over for some sort of setting to bring it back, but haven't found it.
I realize that its too late to return the date display in this next point release... and I'm probably posting this in the wrong place... but is it possible to consider adding a setting option to display today's date in the lower left corner above the time again?

And its CCP being stupid again; from said thread:
CCP Optimal wrote:We intentionally removed the date. It was initially added to draw attention to the fact that clicking that area would open up the calendar rather than due to anyone feeling that displaying the current date in such a prominent place was necessary. Now, with the new Neocom, the calendar has it's own button making it easily accessible, and the current date is clearly displayed within that window. We don't remove things like these because we're evil, but rather because we don't feel that the information being displayed is important enough to justify taking up valuable screen space.
Not sure if, optimal ever looked at the thread again though. :(

Why did you feel the need to remove the T2 BPO information from the market?
How can I make an educated decision on whether I should invent a T2 component if I don't have a list of materials that are needed to produce it? Is there another *in game* location where I can find this information? There are no contracts for the BPC I'm looking for...

Crucible 1.5 patch notes wrote:- In Character Creation and Re-Customization, the four portrait snap shots now retain all the background, pose and lighting settings of the portrait. This will allow you to quickly switch between them without changing settings, either by clicking on them or using the F1 - F4 keys.
- The idle animations of your avatar will now pause when you are making sculpting changes.
- Added a character counter to the Bio, Notepad and other similar text fields.
- Selecting a word in a text input box with a double-click or right-click (to link the item) is no longer including trailing spaces which makes linking much easier.
- It is now possible to use both the dot and the comma as decimal delimiter when typing or pasting decimal values, for example when creating market orders.
- Paragraphs are no longer jumping around in edit fields, for example, when editing the bio.
And there was much rejoicing.
Quote:- Period, comma and numpad-period, can now all be used as decimal marker regardless of OS, Regional settings, client or languageID.
What about numpad comma?
Quote:- Sun occlusion causing white screen flash on some ATi hardware has been fixed.
Happens on NVidia hardware too, is it fixed there?

I suppose it means that over 50 instances of the new sites was added. Not 50 new types. CCP really please dont use Upgraded, Limited, Experimental-áand Prototype in item names. It sounds like the item is actually worse than basic meta 1 item. Use Calibrated, Enhanced, Optimized and Upgraded. Its really easy to understand that the item is better than meta 1 and its also in alphabetic order. |

This is a really serious problem that i think CCP should fix right away. It's discriminating toward sharks and just wrong. All sharks should have the right to put laz0rz on their head, especially the Dual Modal Giga Pulse version of laz0rz. We won't take this shark oppression anymore! The shark community will rise and eat the Jita monument if this tyranny continues. They've had enough. Be warned.
While they're at it they could add real sharks to EVE...
(Ashimmu and Cruor not included. You can already put laz0rz on them.)

Edit: I'm assuming the Auto-Link will still work, right? I agree with this. However I don't necessarily think everything should reside in the market. I instead think there should be an "item database" in EVE. Currently the market is the closest thing we have, but the market does not contain *everything* and as such we would really need some sort of unified searchable super database over all items currently in the game.
One can argue that we have the item database in the wiki, but it's not that well integrated in the game and can't be used that way currently. But a better integration of the wiki item database into the game would probably be a quite easy way to do it. |

The change is being made because someone (Mark, iirc) brought it up during an Arek'Jaalan meeting with Hilen (Dropbear).
Hilen responded (in character) that "CONCORD will probably patch that hole soon" (paraphrased from memory) and that people should step on it if they wanted to make use of the hole as he didn't know how long it would be before it was patched.
So, actually, not only was the consequence known about in advance because it was RPers that brought it to CCP's attention - in character, even - all current findings would in theory still be legitimate in character if someone from CCP (Gnauton/Abraxas?) were to pick up the reins from Dropbear while he's absent.
All it really means is that Compass can't collect more data. At last count they had plotted about 10% of the systems mapped, which is a pretty sizable chunk of systems. Enough to run somewhere with it, imo. |

The ability for towers in w-space to magically ping their counterparts in k-space was an unintended oversight - w-space is supposed to be mysterious unknown places in some place far from New Eden. That means this fix is taking away something that wasn't supposed to have been there all along. :(
The Compass project was a nice example of emergence and creativity, but unfortunately it happened to rely on a bug. I'm sorry about all the time that was invested in to this. I'm not a writer, so I can't give you an RP reason for this change, nor can I answer your question about should Compass be ret-conned out of existence.

do i get any compensation due to the bugs in the client?
i am not able to play at all since nothing shows up in my overview. after relogging i finally had my overview back but once i jumped through the wormhole i lost my neocom, my ship was invisible and so are my guns and all other modules.
no overview either. the wormhole is still there, a corpmate is next to me.
i have resseted caching, cleared my laptop, relogged...no results right now. which makes it impossible to play :-/
if anyone has a soution to solve this or has similar troubles.. |

So, rebooted and retried... same thing Rebooted again, and this time stipped my rig to the redline... ALL nonessential programs/tsrs were halted Tried the install again - it worked (took like 30 seconds... Must have been ALMOST done...)
Funny, when I got in, I had to do an "old school" restart for client" thing.... thought the new tool was doing away with that....

Just a little curio: the Windows version of the launcher boldly advertises "FANFEST 2012: Inferno/ Dust 514 / The future of EVE" and has three little adverts for Power of 2, PLEX Services & Buddy Program. In the meantime the Mac version not-so boldly proclaims "Player Organizsations / Connect and Share / EVE Blog Pack" (and doesn't have the Power of 2/PLEX Services/Buddy Program adverts).
Is there a reason for this difference?
I'm looking forward to the launch / character select / enter game process being streamlined. Having the game patching happening outside the game is handy. Now I can do the patching without my computers screaming at me (the start screen with that cool animation is the heaviest graphics load that EVE presents to my computer, except for environments involving multiple transparent glowing clouds).
So straight up, here are the benefits I have already reaped from the Launcher project:
- it doesn't consume as much processor time or generate as much heat as patching within the game,
- it's a smaller window so I can work around it rather than the constant switching back and forth between full screen and windowed mode (when is the patch coming that allows Mac version to work in windowed mode with 44 fewer vertical pixels?), and
- it moves the useful links & news to the launcher instead of the character selection page (by the time I get to the character selection page, I just want to get into the game).
Thanks for the work so far, CCP.

Vincent Athena wrote:"Control towers in wormhole space no longer reveal distance in the Control Tower Management window."

Patch failed during step 2/3 about mid-way. I clicked on the "Crucible 1.5 deployed..." link in the launcher as the patch was being installed and an exception was thrown.
The exception text string is way too long to include in this post.
I closed the Launcher and restarted the client. The Launcher started the patch where it left off and all appears well with the patching process.

-Launcher is totally broken in fantastically creative ways for a wide variety of users -There's no sound falloff for many ship modules -Jaguar contrails changed to ugly orange for no reason -Modules renamed for no reason
The sound falloff issue literally could not be more obnoxious as I have to either listen to my corpmates' grating (adaptive) invulnerability field sound effects, or turn off sound altogether.
The Launcher is a solution in need of a problem. The old patching method seemed fine, so if you were going to rollout changes maybe you should have looked at it more carefully and took your time.
As far as the contrails and module changes... what problem are you addressing with those changes?
I missed a couple good kills this morning while trying to get my client to patch to fix the patch to fix the launcher to apply the patch to fix the launcher... or whatever. And it hung saying it couldn't be started twice from the same directory or something...
Then I find out that the patch I was trying to apply fixed literally nothing.

- Combat log: The combat log is not sorting correctly again. It's sorting by what I guess is the 'owner' of the event first, then by the text in the messge, even though I've told it to sort by the "Time" column.
- Audio: Many sounds are not taking range into account. When I'm in an enemy NPC area, I can hear their shield repair modules ticking. When I blew up an NPC ship at 80km, the sound was as though it were right on top of me.
Also, when I scroll my view out to the maximum, I still hear my launchers firing at full volume, but things like enemy missiles hitting my ship are inaudible (as they should be at that distance)
- Chat log: Chat log won't stop scrolling, even when you scroll up to read something earlier. It keeps ticking upwards as though you were at the bottom and a new line came in. If I scroll up to read something it should stay there and stop scrolling.
- Graphics: Explosions are happening WAY outside the actual visible area of my ship. Missiles are exploding a full ship length/width away from my actual ship somtimes. It actually looks like there's a box around my ship and missiles are hitting my ship directly half the time, the other half they're hitting a random spot on the box. Meanwhile, every missile I fire at an enemy ship hits it at the same exact location it always has.
Even worse, if I'm moving, there's a white dot area on the box around me where the missile hit that keeps moving with me.

Hello,
Adding my report to verify that the patch is completely broken.
Looks as if it was deployed before checking that it actually works.
The last time I logged on it was OK, so what was the emergency to warrant creating new problems?
It couldn't have waited until testing first?
After running a complete and "successful" "Repair", now the build is totally corrupt and Repair will not even start.
Also, Transverse Velocity needs to be fixed, (as of last week at least) thanks.
Otherwise, keep up the great work, faithfully yours, XS |

Possible Workaround for Launcher Install issues:
I had the "Exception during UpdaterModule.Update" issue when installing the new Launcher (Weds March 14), but found a possible workaround:
--> shut down ALL running programs before re-running the installer/launcher (trying to run EVE again). --> programs I shut down included: EVEMon, EVE Unified Uploaded, IE 9, etc. --> After shutting down all those programs, the launcher finished it's installation fine.
Text of Error (complete text available upon request): Exception during UpdaterModule.Update Traceback (most recent call last): File "lib\update.pyc", line 527, in Update File "lib\update.pyc", line 576, in _Update File "lib\update.pyc", line 304, in Run File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 1421, in ApplyPatch File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 1412, in ApplyPatch File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 1497, in DeleteFile WindowsError: [Error 32] The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process: u'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\CCP\\EVE0\\resCharacterCreationBackdrops00.stuff'

Please stop renaming modules. It messes up killmail posting until the boards can be updated Otherwise, not the worst patch I have seen, but one of the worst for new space stuff / size ratio. Here's hoping that it will pay dividends in the future (so long as it is not paid in aurum, or CQ furniture, which I will never use)
And please don't screw up the skill changes for BCs etc.
Hurry up and find a less lucrative treadmill for the incursion sheep to play with.
Give me my mobile cyno jamming ship
Sort out tec. moons etc
Make sov ownership based on occupancy, acitvity and effort in the owned space not the fattest ass that can wobble round the universe leaving vacuum in its wake.
Make supercapitals (SCs and Titans) incur a sovereignty isk cost to own so they don't sit gathering dust until the superblob is needed; Give an incentive for number control rather than "make as many supercoffins as you can find alts to stuff into them". If the mega-rich had a significant drain on their mega-incomes, they might have to make the game more interesting for everyone
Give me more bubble types for interdictors / scripts for HICs. Make them racially restricted if you like, but let me launch web/neut/tracking disruptive bubbles. Maybe even have "friendly" bubbles to boost sensors, tracking etc but with a penalty you cant warp from. Dunno about that, might be chaos (but might be bloody good fun

All interesting stuff of late, expanding the players game experience, TIDI, again interesting graphics amusement, not much good to you when all you want to do is jump a gate though and yes it's the same for all on the node and yes modules turn off...eventually, and you can still move about...in a fashion, and yes fights do get made and eventually ended, but is this really the only answer you can come up with, to turn a 20 minute fleet fight into a three hour crawl during which each warp gives you time to go make coffee or even walk the dog.
This Launcher thingy, all very nice for those pencil crazed programmers of yours to come up with, I know lets make the log in process long and tedious and fill there screens with this silly window as well as the normal loggin screen but have they tried logging back in after a crash, something EVE is very prone to do at times if you did not know it, and why for every client you open, and why does it not close after use, oversight perhaps, or just plain broken coding again.
One thing I would love you to do though, to make my game play far more enjoyable, would be a simple check box in the settings screen.
TO TURN OFF BLOODY TOOLTIPS.
Now go do something as simple as that and I,ll be impressed.

Has nothing to do with ESET
Using Symantec Fire wall and disabled it before running the updater.
Updater then corrupted all the files including the repair file.
Making second attempt at downloading the offline installer and the two RAR archives.
2.37 GB and 2.24 GB
The first attempt only downloaded 2 GB per file and failed to extract the archive.
Is the CCP server limiting downloads to 2GB?
Was wondering, did anyone try this on the Test Server first?
Haven't been on the test server for a while so lost track.

Today when I logged in, all my settings were gone. Windows, Escape settings, etc... that sucks, but it happens... a lot? LOL
Yeah, I tend to have lost interest in EVE, for a number of reasons... not so much Cruciable per se, but somewhere over time, I think the "it" of EVE was lost (to me, that is) and I cannot seem to find it anywhere. The fact that most EVE thingies (game, website, etc.) have gotten a feel of "big corporate" to it. What I mean is, I no longer feel attached to the EVE universe as I did before. I have after all spent nearly 5 years playing (loads of fun).
Could this be me? Of course, but reading in the forums over these last few years, I don't think it is, just me. I may come back in the future (my yearly subscription is up this summer) but it's going to take more than fancy promises and luring movies/ads, I tell you that CCP. EVE has been a lot of fun for me, but I feel time has caught up, and with that for me to move on.
On an unrelated note, I got to tell you though, that EA did a number on Battlefield 3 as well. I bought it and it was such a hassle to install and get up and running (and keep it that way), it wasn't even funny. I mean, unless you are a hardcore Battlefield player (which I was, I suppose) I don't see how anyone could retain the interest. Initially it took me about 3 hours to finally get to play the game (had my old account since all previous Battlefields), and I had to reinstall the game twice in two days (meaning the Steam like engine, which was beta still, forced me to to that, claiming the game was yet to be installed) and that took the "steam" out of it. I enjoyed the game, just not the administration of being able to play it. Ridiculous, that was not a finished package, the game SURE, but the rest of it, pffft, lame at best!
Anyways... just another "trauma" case. Missile away

no just restart your computer so the files are not locked by anything.
go to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE
there will be a bunch files and folders .
c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility contains your normal cache and your user settings and all their back ups. unfortunately for some reason this launcher ot patch creates a folder called c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility which overrides that one. delete c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility and you should be fine |

The patch for 1.4 worked for me, i.e. originally the release didn't work, but there was some patch to download, then use the repair tool and that got 1.4 to work. Currently 1.5 again doesn't work, and neither does the repair tool. The launcher freezes @ ~8% downloaded and then my computer goes slugish. It then leaves an unclosable Eve updater or something similar running that requires a reboot/log off to remove.
When I try running the launcher on a guest account it launches multiple instances of itself until it uses up all of my memory.
I use Sisi a few times every month and that launcher is fine, why is there a difference between the Sisi launcher and the Tranq launcher? |

Then only needed to disable my fire wall to start Launcher, but I could immediately turn it back on after start.
And now today, I don't even have to disable the fire wall , updated real smooth, patches are fast,

No thread for this so ill just post it. has anyone thought about making it so u can manage ur training que from the website like eve gate so if ur comp is down etc. u can still keep skills in the que from say a public comp or friends etc.? my comp is down atm till parts come in and i cant even turn it on but i could get on another comp to change skills out so that at least im still training something. cause in eve if ur not training something constantly ur wasting time. just something i thought could be intersting in a patch or something. |
