This is really dramatic, but I can't help but agree with the sentiment. Even if you guys wanted to nerf suicide ganking, this is the laziest way to do it. There are other much better ways to do it that will leave both parties happy.
I'm not even a ganker, but I really think you should fix this soon CCP. I hate seeing valid in-game professions be slowly destroyed like this because a minority complained.

This is an outright Profession nerf and future advocation for "Communism of IQ's" system. Where Smart get the shaft while layzy/stupid benefit.

At bottom I think this was a pretty dumb thing to do, as I agree that popups that can't be disabled are a Bad Thing(tm); I also feel that if this was a deliberate nerf to suicide ganking it's the most smarmy of all possible ways to do it.
However, as far as "communism of IQs" and "lowest common denominators" and all that other business goes: do you think it's possible those comments could similarly be directed at people whose micro is so ****- poor they can't even figure out how to add the Enter key to the usual f1-f8? Or maybe people who suicide gank in Jita and complain about lag? Do you think possibly there are just a few too many dumb people having too easy a time with high sec piracy perhaps? ___________________________________________

Deliberately making the UI more obstructive is never a good idea.
God knows the UI needs improving - adding more annoying stuff in is just... it's not even stupid. It's surreal. It's like shoving an M80 up a dead dog's ass to punish it for barking in your dreams.
If CCP want to adjust the profitability of suicide ganking there are many far better ways of doing it. The simplest would be to give corp aggro for cargo scanning as for can flipping. Then escorts can pop the scanning ship = escorts actually have some meaning = gankers need a continual supply of scanning ships or are restricted to scanning AFK/unescorted ships.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Edit: And if the real target of this are the dumb people who accidentally auto-concordokken themselves, well... my instinct is to say that such people deserve whatever they get, but how about making that window appear 3 times before you get the option to disable it?
Why not just design it so that the only way to disable it is from the ESC menu, and that's it? That way you have to deliberately disable it, and you can't just click it out of the way on accident and continue on.

I have hauled my fair share of items from Jita a time or 10k and never had a ganking issue. The gankers are looking for a soft target with yummy insides to pop and clean out. Definately a profession in eve as there are "cargo scanners" in the game and a delay for concord in showing up.
I like the idea of making it as dangerous for the ganker as possable, but a UI lag window is pretty weak.
There are so many ways to avoid the gank just by being prepared/smart about it that this was an unneeded change and the eve player group will be dumber for it. If you get concord on your butt you deserved it... espically if your stupid and forget to learn the rules.
PS a noob got blowded up in a rookie ship on a hauler the other night... I laughed so hard I had to take a break and dock

There's no sane reason to opt for the current implementation over this idea.
Only the people who really, really want that dialog disabled will take the time to go hunting for it.
Why, when in most cases it's a simple matter of making an option or preference, does CCP refuse to please everybody when it comes to UI decisions?
I seriously wrack my brain almost every day trying to figure this out.
Is it lack of leadership?
Are they all living under rocks?
Are all the developers individually allowed to make game mechanic affecting UI decisions without oversight, supervision or testing?
Are you so resource strapped that you must half-ass everything?
A little explaination would go a long way toward explaining consistent, gross lack of consistency and negligence.

I'll tell you exactly why they did it this way. CCP didn't do this on accident. They didn't do it because they didn't think it through. They did it to specifically f#ck up the game play for high sec pirates and make things easier on the idiot #ssholes who insist that everyone play the game with their safety in mind.
CCP has caved to the carebears time and time again. They'll continue to do so until we things like 100% safety in high sec and PVP only if it's mutually agreeable by both parties and combat only allowed in 'arena' systems.
This kind of stuff is just asinine.

wtf? pvp space game where you cant shoot stuff? If this ever happened suddenly you might find that you are playing the wrong game.
But yes, that stupid box should not be a permanent 'feature', there should be an option somewhere to turn it off ... and then do what everyone says they should be doing to slow high sec piracy, dont give concorded ships insurance payouts this way gankers need to actually do some fast mental calculations, giving their brains a workout every time they cargo scan |
