A recently recovered Serptentis log adds an incredible twist to the world of Eve's politics.
A pilot for a deep space salvage operation found a portion of an FA's KOS list dating from the middle of the last year. On that list figures prominently the name of one of the greatest proclaimed foes of piracy in the EVE universe, the name of Black Nova Corporation's CEO, the name of the official NORAD diplomat, Blacklight.
When the Scope contacted former associates of Blacklight to shed some more light on the subject, a former director of Geeklab, Rthor confirmed it. When we pressed Rthor on how he knew about this Rthor responded, "Blacklight [expletive] told me so himself." Rthor added, "Blacklight told me he used to sit right outside the entrance to the Fountain Region in Outer Ring and used to murder innocent pilots passing by, for which the FA put Blacklight on their KOS list." Rthor continued, "This of course caused problems with the FA for us when the Outer Ring Society was formed last year but umlat, the Stalinist dictator of the OR and the leader of the Outer Ring Society, vouched for Blacklight and got him removed from the FA's KOS list, and Blacklight's presence on that list has since been long forgotten." But why would Blacklight ever admit to such a thing to anybody? Rthor's response: "Alcohol."
In light of the fact that Blacklight led an uprising against umlat and KOS'd Geeklab this insight offers some early evidence of umlat's addiction to drop, which has now caused umlat to fall into a drop-induced sleep from which he struggles to awaken. According to the hologram images of umlat's current thinking processes he appears to be fighting tunnel worms and Quaday in some strange land of Bostok.
What this revelation means for NORAD and Blacklight's credibility remains unknown; however, one would at least hope that next time Blacklight preaches against pirates and piracy he develops a foot-in-mouth reflex.

Last time I spoke to NORAD they didn't - unlike most other alliance prominents I have spoken to - try and hide the fact that they were operating much alike a pirate organization when it came to territorial control.
Kudos to them for that. They're the only non-hypocritical alliance in game. And that's the view from one of their considered enemies.

Amusing piece of fiction.
For those that don't know, umlat is much like Aneu Angellus (who in turn is like "Baghdad Bob" on a powertrip), but much less public with his silliness, at least these days.
In fact, for a while, we wondered if they might even be the same person... ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

Edited by: Rthor on 14/05/2004 03:06:52 I guess that the obvious point that needs to be made is that I stipulate that 99.99% of the Eve population would not know that Blacklight was removed from FA's KOS. This was not public info of course. However, just because you do not know about something does not mean that it did not happen even if you are a CEO in FA. I realize that there are very few people who would know about this and especially the details such as the location of Blacklight's piracy.
I do not know how other people's minds operate but I do know how mine works and typically even if I am wrong about something I do not think that my mind would unintentionally make up all these details that fill out the story.
So unless I too am completely delusional I think that these details make this a real story.
Lets think about it a little. People who could have told me about this would be: 1. Blacklight (he would know whether and where he pirated), or 2. umlat (it was either brought up to him by FA or umlat made it up), or 3. somebody in FA who keeps track of KOS list would bring it up, or other people scheming against Blacklight made this story up.
So lets go step by step. 1st option: Blacklight told me. So that would explain how I would know it.
2nd option: umlat told me. could umlat have made it up and lied to me? umlat at that time was running ORS and since he was in the position of power I cannot see why would he need to scheme against Blacklight and make up lies about him. umlat could have just openly have said screw Blacklight then and Blacklight would have been gone from ORS. So I think that we can eliminate umlat and in fact other people scheming against Blacklight at that time because no one had the need or reason to scheme against Blacklight then.
3. Somebody from FA told me this. That would also make my story true.
Why would I remember something like this this well even though it was 9 months ago?
This issue came up when ORS was trying to get free passage through FA space to empire through Aridia. This would have allowed us to go around PF and FDMLJ blockades with mega and zyd. When this was being negotiated the FA was checking our names against their KOS list and Blacklight's name came up. He said that he did not know why he was on it. FA said that they did not know why either but that Blacklight's name was there. Nevertheless umlat got Blacklight's name off that list. And only later did I learn the details of why Blacklight was on it from Blacklight himself, although I do not know exactly when he told me the details. This topic may have come up when Reikoku raided 4c- and killed one of the people in Blacklight's then corporation Fightclub-SOAP Industries and we were all wondering why Reikoku attacked them. Maybe that was when Blacklight told me that and where he pirated. Although I do not believe that I was the only one who heard it. Maybe Crow, maybe Striker Zee maybe some other ppl remember it too, though they are all members of NORAD now so they may not tell.
Why was I paying attention and why do I remember things related to FA's KOS list? Because prior to ORS being formed I hunted NPCs in Fountain space without a pass so I was wondering if my name would come up. And I think that the person who may have been keeping the list was DP Mephisto because I remember him saying that his list of pirates is rock solid around that time.
So am I making this all up? You can decide on your own. I am not making some vague statement that Blacklight pirated somewhere somehow. All of us old characters in this game would probably see such an allegation as pointless. If you knew what I believe that I know about him how would you react everytime you hear Blacklight speak against piracy or calling other people pirates? I just got tired of hearing it without sharing this. Had he been quiet I would have kept it to myself.

I've added myself to the FA KOS list for fun, so being on the kos list at one point doesn't mean ****.
Even if it is true, (and I certainly do not recall such events), it's long past, so nobody really cares anymore. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

Edited by: Blacklight on 14/05/2004 04:59:14 Rthor, before joining ORS my then corp Fight Club were carebears in Citadel. Until I joined ORS I had hardly ever engaged in pvp.
I have never shot an FA ship in my entire Eve life. This smells like a classic case of you actually listening to the stuff that comes out of your ex-CEO's mouth. I challenge you to find a single FA CEO who remembers me being put on their KOS list, you won't find one. I challenge you even further to find a single FA member who can add weight to your theory that I pirated them.
The only possible explanations for this...
1) Your ex-CEO made this nonsense up and you believe it, given umlat's track history for making up the most extreme lies to support his arguements, I can credit this explanation.
2) You are making this sh1t up for ****s and giggles to wind me up, in which case good luck to you ;)
3) You are making this sh1t up to be malicious, which I don't really credit you with.
Either way I challenge you to come up with a single scrap of evidence, that can be verified, to back up these frankly ridiculous claims.

Doesn't take much to get on FA's KOS list My whole corp is on it (or was) for who knows what reason. Who cares, everyone still flys into fountain anyways. I hardly ever run into any of the FA unless I get too close to YZ-LQL. Black Nova are a good bunch in my book. Of course anyone that gives FA a hard time is good in my book

I can confirm Blacklight is a pirate.
He is a drunkard and has a parrot and therefore must be a pirate.
I should know, I only ever hang around pirates like Darth Solo, slothe and phonix.
At least that's what crice keeps telling me ;)
I've seen blacklight fighting drunk, if he tried pirating drunk I can promise you that he wouldn't need to be put on any fa kos list as he would more than likely have fallen asleep most nights while heading directly towards the sun...

In the past FA as attacked ARCADIA because they were working with PVP corporations in Syndicate.
So after Arcadia merge with NORAD was expected that it would Have some influence in behaviour of the alliance.
NORAD come out of the closet being a pirate isnt as bed as being hipocritical.

Umlat and his many alt characters tend to talka lot of smack and not necisarilly lie but he tends to jump to conclusions. He prolly has a lot against the founding memebrs of norad like Blacklight and myself because when we were in ORS we spoke out our concerns openly and have many times had full out arguments with him. Until eventually we had a civil war and formed NORAD. As we were not content with the decisions that were made by Umlat and his "click" there are ofcourse many details but i have no time to get into them atm. ill try and post when i get back home later cya all
