Ship naming is an art form all it own. I prefer to name every ship uniquely and build a mental history of my exereinces in them; granted some expereinces are fleeting moments, yet I have some ships that have with stood many triels and tribulations (the oldest being 9 months). Some of the most memoriable ships and thier names are:
Name -- Meaning -- ShipType
Bixenta -- Victory -- Raven
Orginally this was my first Kestrel name, and has been the name of my first aquired offensive role ship.
Theodosia -- Supreme Gift -- Raven
My first Battleship, given by a poor soul who could no longer care for her deep in open space.
Yanamari -- Bitter Grace -- Scorpion
Name of a ship on a vendetta...still is
Selma -- Comely -- Scorpion
I really thought the scorpion was ugly when I forst got it, kinda grows on ya though.
Aello -- Mythical Name of a Harpy -- Harpy 
Tacita -- Silent -- Buzzard
Should have named it 'Blind' have yet to scan anything useful in this ship.
