Originally by: Shauna This has been brought up a few times before. I believe I saw once (a long time back) a dev reply saying something to the tune of doing this would cause problems in their database because they'd have to add multiple hangars for each player in each station... The tables would explode in size...
I think CCP could approximate this by just giving us a BPO of giant containers. That'd be pretty good. Or even a BPO of a container that is massive (ie 50,000 m3) something that would not be transportable... just for organizing hangars basically.
Just my 02 isk.
All they need to do is make an item like the courier mission package, it can have unlimited items in it. It takes up as much space as the items inside of it.
Of course, you would be allowed to transfer items back and forth thru the package. ------- Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes Guardian Enforcer, wrecking for 827.3 damage. |

Making this a skill would be EVIL! (lol) There should be no limit on the ammount of hangar divisions.

If database management was a problem, couldn't a client-side only solution be developed? Just like in the People&Places window the folders there are client-side only, so couldn't this be emulated in personal hangars as well? Then there would be no difference to the server side database, and everyone could make as many 'folders' as they care to.
Or is this too easy?

Just for the record....
HANGERS = wooden thingies where you hang your trousers and shirts HANGARS = structures used to store airplanes and spaceships.

Well I'm suprised it has not been implemented, we've been asking for it for AGES.

No question, by means of folders or tabs, everyone needs more hanger divisions, and Corporations need many more.

Edited by: Talsarius on 17/05/2004 16:43:07 Hurray!... we made it to the ideas lab :P
(I was not personally aware that this idea had been suggested before but I did suspect it - it's an OBVIOUS requirement).
With such an outstanding amount of support you would think that CCP would have done something about this by now.
By moving the topic here, can we safely assume that this idea has been killed (again)?

Signed... A few hangar division would be sweet and it shouldnt be too hard to implement.

Agree entirely. Even wouldn't mind having to pay for additional hangars. Don't see why it should be linked to a skill but we I've nothing against us paying rent for additional hangars...

I'm no DB programmer, but how would hangar divisions overload the database?....how 'bout we all quit our corps & everyone start a new Corporation to get 7 hangars....would that also overload the database? Or how about we all place our crap into thousands of containers in our hangars....would that overload it? What kind of broke-*** K-Mart database is CCP running here? They can't add a few columns? Sounds like it's about as flexible as Christopher Reeves... If you don't know how to get it right the first time, then you'd better make it flexible so you can fix it later...or you'll die like Earth & Beyond.
