Was messing around with EFT today and realized that I get about the same DPS out of a Harbinger as I do with an Armageddon. The competing setups I used both had 7 t1 pulse lasers, 3 heat sinks ii, and an energy neut in a high slot, using Amarr Navy ammo. Both were in the 450-500 DPS range. Now I know that my gunnery skills are crap, and both will do much more damage when I get to T2 weapons (and T2 drones too). But, I expect they both increase by similar proportions, right? So, does the Harbinger always pump out comparable DPS to the Geddon? That's so weird. . Seeking frigateers!

No. Geddon should scratch 1k fitted correctly, and harbinger closer to 6-700. This is probably a mix of your ship class skills and drone skills.

The Armageddon will pump out over 1k dps with mega pulse II and ogre II, while still retaining a very nice buffer tank. the harbinger can get close to 800 i think, but don't quote me on this one, but thats a FULL gank setup ie. paper thin.
a possible explanation for your findings could be because your skills are more suited to middle sized ships eg. battlecruisers (higher level of bc skill, medium energy turret etc) and less on large energy turrets and heavy drones.

Edited by: Selia Rain on 22/06/2008 02:59:23 Aside from the aforementioned ship skills(BC 4 and BS 3, possibly?), the most likely reason I can think is that you have T1 heavy and T2 medium drones(over 30% damage reduction from drones). Since both harbinger and geddon get a significant chunk of dps from their drones, this could be partially where the difference lies.
Harbinger and geddon deal around 610 and 867 turret dps respectively with max skills/3x HS II.
5x Hammer II = 158 dps 5x Ogre II = 317 dps(nearly double) 5x Ogre Is will deal around 200 or so dps depending on skill levels.
EDIT: I'm assuming heavy and megapulse lazors, of course. If you are using dual heavy pulse and heavy pulse, that right there would be the issue. A DHPL 'geddon deals roughly 750 turret dps... around the same as a harbinger.

Edited by: Tomtomzz on 22/06/2008 06:09:04 Another thing that could be affecting the DPS readouts -
Medium "Heavy" lasers (I.E. Heavy Pulse Laser I) has about the same DPS as a Large "Dual heavy" pulse laser (I.E. Dual Heavy Pulse Laser I) with few skills. You want the Armageddon to have Mega pulse lasers, then its DPS will really go up.

No, I've got the same level (3) of medium and large turret, level (3) of battlecruiser and battleship, and t1 drones in both sizes. The difference that makes the difference is probably that my Harbinger uses best named lasers but my geddon fitting just uses standard T1. However, I'm still finding myself surprised that there's so little difference in performance between these two, even optimally fit! . Seeking frigateers!

Except that the geddon will have over 100k EHP in a gank fit, and the harbinger will have 40-50k max. Harbinger will BBQ anything frigate and up though, might have trouble hitting the small stuff in a geddon. Harby is also a lot more maneuverable and agile, and thus, fun to fly.

Edited by: Gram Hellfire on 22/06/2008 08:10:22 Joe, my Harbinger pumps out 700 DPS. An Armageddon gets 300 more. A huge part of the difference may be drone skills. How are your heavies?
edit: I've always told you that battleships are boring.

Well Gram as you know my gunnery skills are total crap. The same drone skills apply to all my drones, so that doesn't make the difference. I have a 4 or 6 month EVEmon plan all lined up to go from noob to uber in gunnery... now enormously lengthened thanks to CCP's program of massive repeated disconnects that resulted in the loss of all my implants... . Here's a factor to think about. Harbingers have become rediculously expensive. Maybe it's just in the region I bought one today but cheapest I got was 37million, however, they were going upwards of 50million. With prices like these you're better off buying an Armageddon. _____________ Hai. |

I've noticed that, too. I think the Harbinger is more expensive (insurance payout - insurance premium - sale price) than the Armageddon, though the modules may tip the balance. . Seeking frigateers!

Currently my Hurricane outdamages my Tempest by a significant margin, and that's with both setups using one gyrostab (although now I do two gyros on a Hurricane very often). Ofc, I do have BC V and all that jazz, and my BS skills are minmatar BS IV and large proj turret IV.
My Maelstorm / Typhoon outdamages the Hurricane naturally (partially thanks to more dronebay and standard 3x gyro on the maelstorm, and thanks to torps being awesome on the phoon) Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

scorch geddon hits out to 55, scorch harb hits out to 25, so thats another advantage the geddon has, not to mention the 5x heavies.

I wish this were true, because then my pvp cruise missile raven has ~700 dps.
Btw what's the dps on 3 sentry drones, and how do they perform against fast moving ships ? _________________________________________ Faction Standings: Serpentis +7.50 // Angel Cartel +7.17 // Minmatar Republic -8.49 // Gallente Federation -9.53 Faction Warfare Rank: Colonel

My 'Geddon puts out over 1k DPS with Dual Heavy Pulse II and Ogre IIs, and still retaining said buffertank, or splitting buffer/dualrep. Megapulse II is much higher, but less tanky.
'Geddon is a very versatile ship.

geddon is very overpowered ship.
It can do 1100 DPS with skills, and costing araund 100m fittings includet.
While inshurance will get you half of that back.

Please post a setup that actually does that without faction fittings and something resembling a tank. (think not 3x Ancillary current routers or an RCU II or two)

Geddon can do 1100 dps on guns np add drones easy 1300.
Harbinger at a push can do 950 dps. Mine only does 937 dps. (ofc thats with overload)

Will someone please point me to a setup that does 1100 gun dps?
I am looking at a setup in EFT right now, max skills, 5% RoF implant, 5% large energy turret damage implant, 7x megapulse II, with conflag of all things, and 3x t2 heatsinks.
Without drones it deals 959 dps.
With max skilled ogreIIs it deals 1275 dps.
... what am I missing? Thanks __________________________________

Ah, I thought we were talking about sustained DPS.
Yes, in that case it does break 1k gun dps and does break 1.3k dps total with drones. __________________________________
