malaire wrote:Launcher was saying "Client is Ready" but when I pressed Play, I was still required to restart EVE to install Client Update.
If Launcher can't install client updates, this isn't that big change since I am still required to restart EVE for most installs.
The Launcher currently replaces the old patching process, but as you note, doesn't handle "Client Updates" (which used to be "Optional"). This is on our roadmap for the future, when we hope to bring you a restart-less patching experience |

Our plan is to move this functionality into the Launcher in the near future. For the initial release, we didn't want to change too many things at the same time. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Takashi Kaeda wrote:The client seems to launch slower for me. Other than, good work CCP.
The first patch with the Launcher will take a little extra time, because the Launcher is doing a lot of calculations for your current install which is roughly 10GB. Those calculations are then cached, so next time you run an update it will be a lot quicker.

As of 23:57 GMT we released a new Launcher and a new repair tool to resolve some issues that players have been experiencing during the initial deployment of Crucible 1.5.
Those of you experiencing issues with the Launcher or updating the game, please follow these steps:
1.Reboot the computer. 2.Navigate to the EVE client install folder. 3.Run the Repair tool until it finshes. 4.Run eve.exe from the same folder
We ask people to reboot their computer to make sure that there are no locked files or other processes running while running the repair tool. This would otherwise interfere with the repair tool and prevent the client from updating.
Please let us know if this resolves the issues you are experiencing. Associate Technical Producer - Core Technology Group |

Lukas Rox wrote: * The Installer is great - at least for people playing on one account. A fix for people playing multiple accounts is mandatory. Also, please include the "optional" client updates ASAP - launcher should decrease the patching time, not increase it.
Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated We're planning on doing exactly that, but we have to do it carefully, since it requires changes to the EVE client logon mechanics (the patch is offered to the client in a strange, legacy manner) and we don't want to change the way it's done, and leave people connecting from University networks or via various ISP's to become traffic shaped.
Fear not! we will move it into the Launcher

Mongo Edwards wrote:When I have to install an update with the launcher it says it is unable to while I have iTunes and Open Office running. Is there a reason why these programs can't be open while patching but other programs are fine?
Does the update specifically mention those applications, or did you do trial and error to find out what to close before it continued? I'm interested to know if either iTunes or Open Office would be indexing the client for some reason. Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure, Team Special Circumstances |

We merely check whether or not a process is running from the EVE client folder . |

You must check something else as well, since in my case Eve client is in C:\Games\Eve and EveMon is in C:\Games\EveMon. Bingo, that's what I was looking for. Fix pending a full test and should be out soon. Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure, Team Special Circumstances |
