I wondered, im new to this "larger scale" pvp, and i attended few battles for the last 4-5 days. Are the fights always like this?
- u jump through the gate, then get stuck for 10 minutes cuz of terribad lag - u get jumped, then get stuck for 10 minutes cuz of terribad lag
I mean, even with that hugeomgwtfbbq lag its still fun, but god damn it, is it always like that?
- on another note, if any1 has some nais "lag reducing" hints, shoot it! (i already turned off this premium graphics, effects, and overview is properly set)
Tnx! Feel free to flame aswell

disable sound, disable all visual effects, lower your resolution and color depth, and if all else fails, use a ram-disk program and hardlink your EVE cache folder to it, and that will give a bit of improvement.

You can do nothing to reduce server side lag.
You can do a LOT to reduce graphical lag and get your FPS running smoothly. But 10 minute module activation delays, etc, thats out of your control I'm afraid.

I noticed that at least for me turning off graphics does much less than simply setting Overview to show only enemies. (I even consider to close Overview at all in such situations and fly/lock by clicks).

Very likely. CCP's UI has always been a major CPU hog. If you have a decent graphics card it'll be the UI holding you back, not the 3D graphics. Another thing to consider is disabling audio unless you have a Xi-fi card.
Many second delays are usually the server but could also be your connection. I don't normally get delays unless the battle has fifty or more per side. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

All effects on including sound, shadows and bloom on, maximum resolution. Two message programs working in the background, FF and or IE, virus checker and tabs scattered everywhere. XP SP3 not long ago reinstalled.
Lag for me = couple second delay in getting into the next system with the other 40+ people that were with me. No noticable lag other than that, the odd stutter but thats it. Perhaps something to do with my 20Mbit low ping connection?
This is on a system that 18 months ago was state of the art and is now woefully below average. I know its an easy answer but perhaps the problem is lack of optimisation on your end? I expect many will disagree saying that CCP has a lag riddled bug ridden game, but I personaly dont have a problem.

A definite MUST NEED thing to do when you know there's a bunch of ships on the other side of the gate is to hit the TAB key to minimize the overview just after you spam the jump button. Not saying you won't lagwarp anyway, but it cuts it down quite a bit.
