Instead of 14.95 per month, why not an even 15.00?
Say 38,000 subscribers, it's just an example people, at an extra 5c a month thats 19,000 USD/Euro extra per month for the bank.
5c won't kill anybody and the extra cash could be used for development projects or something.

14.95 makes it sound cheaper, I guess. It's the same thing when you go to the supermarket, products always cost xx.99 Ç.

most people will tell you it's so people percieve it as being 14, over 15, but honestly i think it's just so we all have some change for the small items.
Of course with electronic currency transaction it would be probably be so we percieve it as cheaper. I (like most people) always round prices up so I fail to see how it works.
also i think the op meant 380,000 subscribers :P

It's for psychological reasons it's used.. The lowest coin in Denmark is 1/4 of the base value (ie. 0.25 DKK). However, the price tags still say 19.95 even though it is not possible for anyone to actually give you 0.05 DKK in return.
Personally, I think part of it also deals with our reading direction: If you put two practically identical prices next to eachother here, say 19.95 and 20.00 DKK, people will first notice the 19 and 20 and since you can't actually buy much for the small change anyway, they won't care much for what comes after those two numbers.

Cos CCP wouldn't be able to say "You can play Eve for less than 15 dollars a month".
The same as the adverts say "For less than a hundred dollars, you can buy...". An astounding 1 cent less! So you're getting a bargain here, CCP are giving you 5 cents less

This is one of the things that really annoys me about gas prices. It's an anachronism from the days when gas was way <$1. If you're paying 20 cents for a gallon, then .9 is a big deal. When it's $4, $0.009 isn't something to get excited about. Just cut the crap already and modernize.
And if as a child I could figure out that 19.99 is basically 20 then I'm further flummoxed that adults still can't to this day.

Though in Eve's case, and any other MMOG except SWG (which raised prices across the board because it was uber -- oh the irony), they charge what the other companies charge. If they all agreed to charge $15 a month, then they would. But they go for that psychological crap and this is what we get.

I honestly would glady pay EVE $20 a month, maybe EVE sub could cost $14.95 but you can set your own custom price higher than 14.95? I sure as hell would donate a little more money!
