MD Forum sinks it's teeth into another soon to be regular reader
You would be surprised to know that most people I get to try EVE, have asked what I was doing and told them something about in the MD forum and they simply get involved in the discussion and want to put their input in etc.
It's clear most people in here have professions related to everything talked about in said forums.

As someone who performs DD and PFI on a regular basis it would intrigue me to know whether Shar (who is clearly respected) and others are actually auditors in RL too?
An initial answer to a question raised about payment to the auditor is that checks and balances need to be in place to ensure that the following broad principles are upheld:
1) Independance 2) Objectivity
Obviously there are threats to the above but sufficient sa***uards should be in place. A simple example in RL is that any payment / gift received should equate to less than 5% of the individuals net worth.
Anyway, will watch developments with interest
Another Big 4 person. =) I work for the one that starts with a "P", how about you?
"E", "D", or "K"?

Absolutely, I was well qualified to be the founder and CEO of EBANK after spending 3 years in Technical Support for an ISP. Not all is lost however, I have a crappy little certificate that authorises me to spend the rest of my life telling customers to restart their modems.
But it's funny within EBANK. I spend my time interviewing people for in-game jobs when their RL jobs pay more in a month than I make in a year, and their CV's have pages of qualifications whereas mine shows my extensive experience cooking steaks at Lone Star and my supervisory role in Burger King telling 16 year old's to use the sanitizers after they utilise the bathroom.

While I do agree that most people gravitate to what they do best, I also see online gaming as a way of advancing or exercising skills not currently usable in ones RL employment.
I for one, am not college trained, but have done mentally gifted minor's training (your area may call it something else - over 140 IQ kids). Most of my skills are learned from hands on and I am at the point where I can see enjoyment in being a Project Manager. This is something I wholly enjoy in Eve but am not able to encompass it in my 7 years working at an ISP nor the 11 years working in the office coffee company prior to that.
I can do a bit more than reset the modem Ric, though when it comes to reformatting, I need just a bit of guidance to get the job done. No Certs here at all. Oh and with regards to MD, Dad's career was CEO/CFO and his father Bank President... so yeah money knowledge is in the blood. When I was a teenager he was part of a Venture group that had a hand held banking interface you could plug into the phone line - CitiBank said he'd need to wait 20 years for people to die off before it would be widely accepted... and now we have PDA's and Iphones and so on :)

The first auditors at my first company were Deloitte & Touche (as the UK branch was then called after a merger with Touche Ross). Everyone (including themselves) referred to them as Toilette & Douche ------------------------------------------------- Caeleste naves interretis res gravissimas sunt |

Last time I checked I believe we were warmly referred to as *****s with calculators. For professional reasons I cannot possibly comment on the high standards of work set by other capital letters...

I don't plan on it happening, but eventually in every corp I've been in both with this toon and others. I eventually migrate up into some sort of mgt role, defacto CEO, or other well trusted position and tend to do well in them.
In RL my work career has had the same progression. Despite not planning it, or even really shooting for it. I just sorta land in well trusted positions and tend to do well in them. |
