What potential issues i'm talking about:
- new player corps complaining beeing wardecced all the time and ransomed by elite players - people complaining about all those high sec carebears in NPC or newbie corps not participating in pvp. Reasons may vary, but i assume that a lot have problems getting experience in pvp and/or numbers for lowsec gangs, thus beeing in a small starters corp - people complaining about how hard it is to recruit
Fixing this couldn't be easier. Just make Corporation management a Rank 6 skill, or raise the lvl requirements to build your own corp. Though EVE has a sandbox design, i don't get the point why everybody should be able to build his own corp just at the first day. Imho, it should take a new toon at least a month before he could create his own corp.
Yeah, alt corps wouldn't be that easy anymore. And coward pirate corps wouldn't find that much easy pickings probably. But 4 me personaly, that would be 2 more pro's

No... It would just make somebody who did train those skills charge people to found corps for the people who didn't train those skills.
I remember forming my corp when I was a month and 4 days old and wiping out my bank account to pay the fee . It was a big enough setback for me at the time.
And making it harder to form corps would somehow move the NPC corp population into player corps exactly how? __________________________________________________

Corp management a rank 6? How would that really make a difference? lvl1 of a rank 6 skill is only an hour at most to train. So, after just one hour, a new alt corp pops up to avoid a wardec.
You can't force players to join existing corps, they will simply stay in noob corps if they can't create one of their own.
This does not solve the problem, it will serve only to create more.

Edited by: Lord WarATron on 26/06/2008 09:14:11 Wont make any difference. Real problem is random corps that recruit anybody and have 100+ members and no corp plan other than tax's going into CEO's wallet.
The first thing a corp needs to do is act like one and prepare for its first wardec. The CEO needs to get its members into gear and build a stockpile of ships and make a plan. The problem is not the skill requirement, its that too many corps act like a chat channel insted of acting like a corporation because teh CEO is a noob or a Scammer. --

1. Not true. But I guess you only hear the bad stories. Even if its one out of 1000.
2. They complained and now they get ganked in lowsec. So now they complain over carebears being there basicly.
3. No, but the mass invite crap seems to have died. People just dont brainlessly join X corp. (Insert something about goonswarm here).

You are right, I should skip making concrete proposals. Just put it that way:
Higher Pre-Requirements for corp creation. If people tend to join NPC corps rather player corps, then there would be a need to adjust that as well. Maybe something like NPC corp tax as well, and generating another ISK sink

The OP has at least one point. Why should anyone be allowed to form a corp right from the start if not for alt corps? I don't know many MMOs, but the few i know it takes some time to build a guild, which imho makes sense.

Too bad all those "coward" pirate corps don't wardec tiny corporations full of week old noobs; because it's pointless. You have no idea what you're talking about if you're even being serious, go troll somewhere else.

Thats an excellent setup I think I'll give it a shot on my raven the ECM will definitely help against those NPCs.

I can sympathise with the OP's concern, and I agree with his diagnosis or a major problem: I'd say that a majority of the "New guys quits EvE" posts reduce to "New guy joins a terrible corp". We're losing potentially good players to this. I'm not sure that you can rules-engineer what is essentially a social problem though.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |
