There prolly been alot of threads about login traps in the past years, but here goes anyways.
We had an armageddon, arazu, sabre, rapier vs 3x t1 cruiser, armageddon, so pretty even up match.
might say we got slight upperhand.
we had scout on the otherside, so basically we had done our job and the intel on other systems for
possible bait.
they jumped into our laps, we engaged. After that they dropped 3x falcons+bb+rapier+zealots+other stuff
on us, is that fair play if you gotta be off the game to win by means you cannot predict?.
personally i think it should not be part of the game to be able to use login traps in that way and should be punishable
actions, and this seems to be very popular way to pvp on the russian community.
please add your opinnions to this thread. specially admins or ccp's view.

Mind if i ask(since i havent participated in this specific gang) did you engage our mates in space with SOT soveregnity?
If the answer is yes then you should probably get a bit more familiar with game mechanics and soveregnity structure opportunities.

idea on this was plainly to open discussion if login traps are part of game tactics or just an exploit that should be removed.

Login traps are fine because if you saw their gang you would not fight and everyone wants the upper hand. What you need to do is watch local and when you see local spike you pullout ASAP. It takes time to align and warp so you should have enough time to get just about everyone out.
I run a very small corp and we fight major alliances many times our size. We use this tactic all the time fight fight fight Locals jumping pull back NOW!! Anyone who stays just for a few more sec normally dies.
You can really get under the skin of bigger alliances/ bigger gangs doing this type of fighting. I find it to be more fun then 40vs40 fights. Small PVP and more team work then just focus fire power.

Its easy to jump to conclusions with regards to login traps. Ask yourself a few of these questions first:
1. Could they have come in from a side system?
2. Is there a pos jump bridge in system?
3. Could they have jumped a bunch of recons into system using a black ops cyno (which you wouldn't see if it was offgrid)
4. Was it a station system? Its pretty common for people to sit on TS while logged off, and log in as soon as they hear there is a fight going on.

We had a little something like this happen, for a while it was the only way our enemies would engage. But according to CCP
"There is no restriction on when a player logs on or off of EVE"
so its not an exploit, just a pathetic way to show how big and bad people are.

This is more likely than a login trap in an alliance's home space. Also are you really sure they didn't come from another system a few jumps away while you were busy with your fight?
I've seen login traps but they're not as common as you might think.
