5x Heavy Neutron Blaster II Small Nos (named or II, doesn't really matter - may as well go tech 2 - medium wont fit)
10M MWD II Warp Disruptor II Stasis Web II
3x Shadow Serpentis (or Gal Navy) MagStabs 2x EANM II 1x 400mm Rolled
2x Trimark Is
5x Hammerhead IIs
Does 820 DPS apparently. The Armour's a little on the low side but it's a full out gank fit and the rigs make it a little expensive but wth.
Any suggestions?

swap 400mm plate for damage control unit. you can trade off the T2 hammers for med ecm drones if you think you're too frail. ---

Stick with T2 magstabs if they will fit. Deimos "Die Most" is a frail ship. If solo, take Vespa EC-600 ECM drones. Remove the trimarks.

Yep. Even for all that dps you'll be better of in an Astarte. Or better yet, sell it all and buy 2 megathrons.

those rigs will slow the deimos down too much IMHO. I've had touble catching the Amarr recons - need to use change of direction and heat carfully.

For full gank the available fitting on that last highslot is almost irrellevent anyway... because whatever you put in there should be offline anyway for maximum overheat.
Trimarks seem counter to the full gank ideal too, dropping one of the EANMs for an RCU (if needed) and going with two gunnery rigs would seem more appropriate. --

considering the role of the deimos, trimarks are actually a sensible option.
in gangs where the deimos is more comfortable, most likely there will be webbing interceptors, wich makes the trimarks only really not worth it in solo situations, in wich the deimos doesn't fair well.
as for damage rigs, you would only be able to pump out just a tiny bit more. Falloff or tracking rigs seems to be the best choice instead. ---

We have a disagreement here. The only point of using a Deimos (and then tentatively but anyway) is to solo with it. There is no other niche for it. Solo harmless npcers and miners and such with superior DPS so that you can loot and run before the cavalry arrives. That is the Deimos's sole reason d'etre in todays TQ pvp state.
It was good times for the Deimos when it's mwd meatn ti was faster than 70-80% of what it would meet but today its not able to fight in most of the fights... and throwing it in a gang, other than a lopsided ECM ultra heavy small gang, would be criminal.
Only my opinion of course.
Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

sorry but no.
the deimos is way too slow and uses too much cap in too short time to be useful in solo situations. (MWD bursts for approaches and neutron blasters eat heaps of cap).
now as heavy puncher in lighter gangs comprised mostly of interceptors and a couple of EAS and recons, it shines the brightest.
best way to solo in this ship would be to tank it, and that would mean either drop the web or the warp jammer for an injector, and decreasing the firepower further to fit such tank, restricting itself to either ions or electrons.
there is the option to nano it, but due to the low falloff of the blasters, even with null-filled neutrons, it's not gonna do significant damage, meaning swapping it for rails, wich will deteriorate the firepower further.
in a small gang with full-gank fit, the deimos is a godsend, specially when you try to break the heavier tanks with firepower alone.
of course that considering the corp/alliance you are into gives a reason for posting your opinion, since I had this exact same argument with one of your corpies (kublai) before ---

Well my setup is relatively cap stable - 6-7 minutes and to be honest if I've not won the fight by then then cap is the least of my problems :D
With Snakes, I don't need to use the MWD much anyway.

Which means either you can't stop them warping or you can't keep them in place, either way, no web with a blaster boat is a silly setup imo.

Last week I finally finished training HAC's. I have been flying a ishtar and enjoying it a lot. The entire month I was training for HAC's I spent a LOT of time playing with deimos fittings because I loved the thorax so much when I was younger. After trying more fits then I can remember in EFT I finally gave up. The reason was that every time I looked at a fit I always came to the same conclusion. Just fly a mega. To me, the Deimos is just a really expensive mega with crappy survivability. The Deimos only has 2 things over a mega. Lock time and maneuverability. Personally that is not enough for me to consider flying it. That is also why I agree with the person that said its a solo ship because those are really the only 2 things that make it better then a BS for solo. It can point and get into blaster range faster then a mega. To me however that is not enough to justify the the huge cost of losing one.

while it only has 2 things over the mega, do tell in how many situations can you use a ****** b-thron over a nimbler deimos. ---

So true, just getting to a target in a megathron will empty your cap...

Edited by: Khorian on 28/06/2008 00:23:36 You can overheat for 1000 dps ... on paper ;) I would say most of the time you ill maybe do 500 DPS on the average target. Still, thats is more than 80% of the other ships out there IF you get in range before it or you explodes. PS.: Get HaC 5 ---
