Bringing that to my attention resulted in experiencing mild depression and hatred for my fellow man. I'll see you in court.

If you at 73 doesn't know how to use a ladder then the animal control people should come to put you down.

This isn't as bad as one area (forgot its name though)
In that area, you can break into someone's house, trip over a chair, get caught, Pay 5000$ fine and spend 2 years in jail, come out and sue the houseowner 500,000$ for getting hurt on their property, get 500,000$ richer.

That's why in America, if you shoot someone you make sure they're dead. But rememeber.... you only fired to stop him, not kill him

actually i think if youre 73 and still can use a ladder you deserve some sort of medal... seriously, am i the only one that thinks its a bit weird that a 73 year old guy still has to climb ladders? no matter what, you should not need to work at that age.

He DID get training on how to use a ladder, AND the judge said "Mr Gower-Smith knew he should not go on to the top platform of the ladder but did so and, by doing so, increased the likelihood of it overturning." ... and he STILL found it was 75% the council's fault he stood on the top step of the ladder and it fell over.
You couldn't make it up.

things i love about eve:- taking responsibility for my own screwups (and exploiting other peoples)
things i hate about the real world:- judges who reward stupidity

If i was the judge i would fine the old man for wasting me time and order he pay me ú50000, as well as dance on top of a ladder for five years.

Heck no, in Texas stopping them means killing them. Bring all the ammo you want. However, for those not in the lonestar state, if all else fails claim he was a zombie and you were a bad shot going after the head.

Meh. Where I live the case would have been thrown out. Of course, it's because workman's comp would have been paying him. If the workplace was deemed unsafe in the resulting inspection, then OSHA would have collected a fine from them.
Then, of course, we get the occasional McDonald's case..... hot coffee anyone?? I think she won that one, not because the coffee was too hot, but because everyone I know, me included, have had drinks dumped in our laps because the lid wasn't on right. *shrug*
My favorite warning is the one on a husqvarne chain saw----- do not use on genitals. Dear god, I want to see the case that led to that one. Or maybe I don't
English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, coshes 'em, and rummages in their pockets for loose bits of grammar. |
