it reads a lot like a sci-fi war**** book, sort of like sci-fi movies that spend 75% showing mechas and how the mecha work and mechas fighting, and oh btw here's some plot in a spare moment.
which makes perfect sense since otherwise it wouldn't be an eve book and we'd have flames about how it's just a book with some eve references and not proper.
style wise it's a lot like his chronicles (which, again, isnt a bad thing). he's fond of 2 page mini-chapters that then break into the view point of another character. it actually works pretty well for me since it requires, what, 10+ plots at the same time to follow?
a bit like william gibson on something like "all tomorrow's parties", but much faster. 10x speed. with more characters
all in all, given the task laid out before him, i think he delivered a solid sci-fi book. it's not "consider phlebas", but it's not supposed to be. and i almost care about the amarr plotline now
almost.
DISCLAIMER: i'm a big sci fan.
EDIT: oh for pete's sake, i can't say ****. umm, well, you can get what i mean from the mecha analogy.

This has been by far the most interesting part for me, it's weird to be reading about events that "happened" just weeks ago, from the perspective of those involved.

Got mine like 2 days ago, 1/4th of the way through I think, but I really like it so far, can barely put it down :D. The very few first pages I had some difficulty keeping track of all the names being thrown around (as I wasnt very familiar with the high profile characters involved), but for the most part the 'episodic' ways in which the chapters are written (kinda in the same way as LoTR is, which is the other book if've read :P) makes it easy enough to keep the different storylines separated. ______________________

I'm a third way through it and it is a great EVE story! I hope Tony continues to write EVE novels, I'll sure buy them!

note i picked _All Tomorrow's Parties_ and not _Neuromancer_. It was good, but it wasn't epic genre defining good.
