I am thinking of trying to run 2 accts at once on same computer. I tested it out and they run just fine together, i did 2 separate installations and can alt tab between them. I know for some people will do it for hauler/miner applications and I might do that but was wondering how i can set up two accts to mission together. Does anyone have any experience on the different senarios? I like eve and think i can have more fun with duo accts. Thanks

Windowed mode 4tw. And 2 accts.......well.....to halve the time taken, mainly. And to salvage/loot.

Been playing for three years I haven't needed that much isk. BIt I guess it amkes sence, I just don't mind taking a little longer plus usually my corpmates salvage for me.
Just take a friend with you :)
but I guess then you won't make the money twice as fast :P
WEll if your getting two accounts you better at least be doing that to fund your PvP.

I have my alt salvage/ loot; I bring him in as the room is wrapping up and move on to the next when he's about done. Other easy applications could be a remote repping osprey or exequror (watch the aggro but if it goes pop well, meh), fire- and- forget drones, or handing out gang bonuses in a bc or command ship.
Time saved warping out for a salvage boat seems like it's probably the best deal to me, but I could see a remote- repping myrm that spews out drones after you aggro the whole room being kind of fun.
Why would you need it? Well, you don't I guess, but after chewing up the L3s 175,000 times each on standings grinds I'll do pretty much anything for a laugh. I don't really understand the mission machismo thing of "I can solo L4s in a T1 frigate!" -- what are you trying to do, prove something to a bunch of really dumb bots?

Yes its possible, and as one mentioned, Windowed mode. There is a program (Evemover, google it) that can move the eve window to the proper position so that it 'seems' its in fullscreen, but isnt. VERY useful tool. (Evemon has the same ability, but its .net so, pfft, and im having issues with Evemon anyhow ;)
Best way to do it, use AFK mission ships, ie Perma-Tanks. Domis, Permaboost Ravens, and the like. (Domi/Ishtar work best) That way you dont have to micromanage the missions, and you can of course, fit multiple salvagers/tractors onto Ishtars/domis so you can salvage/loot on your way.
With 4 High drone accounts to my name, It *is* possible to do it, it does take a bit of work, and knowing the missions beforehand. Granted these are now re purposed characters (No need for a carrier and dread pilot in empire, god I hate being a carebear... how do you people do it, im gonna make a thread on this. ;)
True story: I was tired, sleepy, and starting to feel the effects of JD. I was running 5 accounts (4 Mission running 4s in Domis/ishtars and one account I need for standings speed running L2s, so my attention was there) I just started the runs So i went out in all 4. So I go out, and start every mission. Get into the first room, get full aggro, and let loose the Hounds of Ogre IIs, and focused on my Crap character.
So Im watching TV, running the crappy character and check back with my big characters... All 4 were in pods. Apprently, I had the completely wrong hardeners on all my ships, EM hardeners for a Angel mission, Kinetic for a Sansha mission... It was bad.
So learn from my mistake... Pay attention if your going to run multiple accounts doing something that could be potentially dangerous.

Well, this probably isn't going to help you but,
I use linux, and I had two accounts for a short while. I put both EVE clients (both full screened) in their own workspaces, and used <ctrl><alt><arrow key> to change workspaces. (firefox, pidgin, and amarok all had their own workspace too) Of course my main was in a logistics, so, I would spend most of my time in my firefox workspace

1 account kills and the second salvages in a dessy. Makes my mission running uber profitable on a time wise basis.

I used to run missions with 2 Domis, 10 heavy drones or sentries make a mess of pretty much any L4 mission. 2nd Domi has a weaker tank, it can tank but not as good as the first. It is shield tanked and has a lot of cargo expanders and does all the salvaging.
Mission running is all about speed an efficiency. 2 ships do it a lot quicker than 1.

Jupp. I totaly agleed with this. I aslo buy a secunde avcount for this. Nuthign won 2 avcount 1 playars for this.

if you want to do really fast U use 2 marauders at same time :P
Well speakign seriously managign 2 accoutns soemtimes is cumbersome. So a good way is Main ship had uber damage 3 damage mods, has web, and all stuff to accelerate mission. Secodns accoutn is in an APOC or guardian perma running a LOT of remote repair on you and assigning its drones to you. Becomes very easy to handle. Just be careful to not let the support ship be webbed and get out of range to your main ship :) |

It is certainly a nice thought to salvage at the same time with a second character in the background, but there are two but's:
1. The peaceful after-battle activity of getting out your salvager and serenely salvage and clean up the mess you've made is gone. Instead now you have hectic task-switching and a not-here-nor-there experience that is very tiring.
2. You are forced to go with lower expectations on your frame-rate. Although this might depend on your hardware.

I've done it. Ioci has mad tank skills where Ocih has mad gunnery so Ioci flies in, aggroes and tanks. Ocih slaughters. There is no need though. A passive drake will more than do the job solo. Some level 4's you need more. Just don't take them. they drop the same junk as the easy ones. |

I run a mission ship and and a salvage boat. I usually bring in my salvager when I have aggro from the whole room and my drones are out doing their thing, and salvage while the mission is in progress to reduce downtime to near-zero. Since I'm mostly a drone user being afk from the mission ship for a few moments while I'm starting the tractors/salvagers on a new group of wrecks isn't a big issue as the drones will shoot at something (even if it's not necessarily what I want) in the interim.
If something bad happens and my salvage ship pulls aggro I have a remote repper on my mission ship so he can tank a little bit.

What im doing is this, my main is a miner with a hulk and my hauler alt is learning to fly the domi atm. I set up my miners hulk with maxed cargo space (about 17000m3 and I park him at a ice belt, usualy this takes about 26 to 30 mins to fill up, and in the mean time I run lvl 3 missions with my hauler guy (like i said hes not ready for lvl 4s yet) and hes fitted with T2 med drones and 2x salvagers and 2x tractor beam.
Fly into mission and use a small rail to get aggro and then just clear up the salvage after the drones are finnished. All I have to do is empty the hulk from time to time and to salvage the lvl 3s. I found this easy as pie once you get into it and I could see someone with a 2nd mission account running 2 lvl 3s in domis at the same time and easily.

I don't know I'd like to push for an eve where we haver salvaging drones and such so that having 2 accounts doesn't help to the point where 20% of them playerbase see it as a must to play. If not more than 2 accounts :P
Not that 2 accounts should be bad, but salvaging? seems like salvaging in missions should be easier :P |

I take four ships and spares to missions: two mission battleships, one salvage ship and one hauler. The hauler takes spares to the mission station and occasionally hauls large amounts of loot from mission spaces.
I use windows... 1280x1024 on two 20" 1600x1200 screens. The PC has 2 x 3.0 GHz Dual Core 5160 chips with 1333 MHz FSB and 4 GB of 667 MHz ECC memory. The vid card is an EVGA "superclocked" 8800 GT with 512 MB.
Flying two BS in a mission works OK.. I have them on separate screens. I can't target and fire as responsively as two humans could but I do OK. I usually have the salvager and hauler logged in all the while, so I have two windows on each monitor.
Since moving to 64-bit Win XP I have a much more stable system that can run more Eve windows without going blooey. I ran eight Eves for mining for a few hours yesterday without the memory bloat and eventual paging lags I used to get with 7 in 32-bit XP. The recent fix for the cache setting seems to have helped, too. |

Im flying Missions with the awesome Domi+Raven combo. Domi tanks everything and kills the non-BS ships while the Raven finishes off the Battleships. With 10 T2 Drones out everything dies really fast. The best thing on the Domi is, you dont have to worry about it. Even in the hardest missions with full Stage aggro nothing can get it down(2 permarunning LAR and Raven got a Large Remote Repper aswell) .Just stay on the Raven account, put the Raven's Drones on Guarding the Domi so they attack targets on their own.

i reakon you could prob do 3 easy enuff, mebbe 4 if you got enuff screens / concentration.
That was with non perma tanks as well :) LP and isk goes up fast, not so good for salvaging though

I run six accounts at once. Three monitors (three video cards, while mining). I run them from six different instals of the eve client (different folders on different harddrives).
So, you can run multiple clients, but you need a good PC. I recommend windows vista 64 bit OS with 4+ gigs of ram (more is better).
Then the fun begins..... |
