IÆve just trained for a stealth bombers and am wondering if itÆs worth spending 8 days training to get a bomb launcher? Can anyone shed some light on how these work and what they are good for? The size of the bombs themselves mean that you can only play with a couple at a time. Are they designed for fleet battles maybe?

Forget about them. Honestly. The cost a ton, they do awful damage isk wise, and worst work like a complete pile of crap (well they are atm). So just fit your trusty cruises and go hunting ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* they work like this:
similar to an interdiction sphere, you launch them from your ship, and then they detonate after 15 (?) seconds dealing damage in all directions.
They're also ridiculously pricey, and you'll need to get close to use them; and as stealth bombers are made of paper this probably isn't a good idea... |

Lock Breaker and Neut bombs are very powerful vs remote repping gangs. The easiest way to drop a bomb and get out alive is to align to a bookmark you have on grid. So say you are below a gate (or anything) you will want a bookmark about 200km above you. You align to it, uncloak, drop the bomb, warp. It should all happen within 1 second, max 2. Bombs travel 18km~. Btw, if the explosion hits a gate, it will do no damage to ships. Might be the same for stations as well, not 100% sure on it though.

Bombs launch like moon probes - they travel ~15km along your present heading before detonating. To instawarp from cloak + launch, your BM would need to be in-line between you and the target, and your distance to the target sufficient such that the bomb does not under or over shoot.

...I think bombs can only be used in 0.0 as well, correct?
I drive a Manticore sometimes myself, and it's probably the most fun to fly ship I've had in Eve. But I've never used bombs - just seem too expensive for the damage done. But I might try it one day, just for that shock & awe effect.
By the way, I don't think you'd need to warp out, you could probably just re-cloak after launching the bombs, since they travel about 18.75km, and the area of effect is 15km. Then just sit back and watch the show.

If you cloak before the bomb detonates your targets will not suffer any damage from the explosion. I am not 100% sure about this, but this problem is present when you are using missiles. If you warp or cloak before the missiles hit the target they do 0 damage. This is a bit stupid and should be fixed imo. |

Missiles will travel a good 30-40km before disappearing after you cloak. Dunno how far a bomb would travel before doing no damage after you cloak, will some rich bastard test?

I think this only applies to missles, since you need to maintain a target lock in order to guide the missle (hence the term "unguided" in their descriptions). I have tried it and can confirm if you cloak before impact, missles will not hit their targets. However, I wonder how this would work with F.O.F. missles, since they are "auto-targeting"? I'm guessing they should still hit after you cloak, though you can't control what they hit of course. I shall give this a try later and report back here. :)
As for the bombs, I haven't tried it yet, but being area of effect weapons that don't require a target lock, they should work, even if you re-cloak immediately after launching. I'll let you guys know when I'm rich enough to experiment with bombs.

As much information Ive collected solong is: - U launch it (flys forward u, ~18,8km) - U can launch 2 after each other (is that true?) - Bombs still cost too much
However, Ill definietly try to launch some bombs into a Snipa fleet in turtle formation, I dont think, they will see, or will react on the bombs. Maybe I need a wing of sbombers, and some sake for the kamikaze moral, but it most be done, at least once.

I have been bombed a few times while in sniper formation, and its pretty laughable, obviously being BS, we couldn't lock the bomber before he warped, but then again, it really didn't matter because it only took my shields to about 60%. I think they should make bombs more effective for their price, something that should kill just about anything short of a BS (and still cripple that too) |
