I would like to point out that orbiting a missile ship with a gun ship is wrong. It isn't inefficient, it isn't sub-optimal, it's simply wrong.
So is that crap about speed = life.

Missiles always hit, you want to be steady and not move around so your guns hit better.
Most caracals use heavy missiles. Even if they use HAMS you get a damage reduction when you are in something with small sig - like a taranis, MWD-ing killed your advantage since your sig was boosted to cruiser size, not to mention that you were hitting much worse becauase of increased transversal.
If you want to learn how to fly it, watch sakana's vids, and babyrage by dave tehsulai.
PS: If you know that a caracal uses assault launchers, your better off not engaging in that thing. :)
Unless he has t2 ammo and t2 launchers, you could kill it in a rail-ranis though.
