I'm still a noob to eve, but I'm already hooked. I've noticed in the current blob wars that the scouts seem to have a lot of fun. Avoiding gate camps and so on.
I'm training cov ops and should be finished in 3 weeks, but in the mean time I'd like to start scouting/cloaking. What do you fit a cloak on or scout with, other than a cov. ops? |

Interceptors are common scouts. The covert recons are decent scouts, too. Sometimes you'll see a nanohac scouting, but this is usually because they have no interceptors or covert recons. |

Vigil is a nice throwaway scout. Long target range means you can put weak ECM or sensor damps on a target safely if you need to run or contribute to a battle.
lows: 2xOverdrive, 1xNanofiber mids: 1MN MWD, sensor damp+range script, sensor booster+no script highs: cloak. Or nothing, you're a scout.

hell, i scouted for some friends a while ago in a shuttlecraft, went to the amarr/minmatar FW battlezone like the day that FW came out, and ran into my former CEO, lol (he's based in gallente space) anyway, him and his friend were both in domi's and i scouted for them in a shuttle, would jump to the other system, tell them who was on the other side, then warp to a planet, then they would jump into the system and i would warp to them and their safety, lol
they killed like 3 or 4 people there in one night, i have only managed like 6-7pvp kills in my entire existence, lol

LOL - Didn't think about a shuttle. Was in a fleet the other night that had a guy in a pod as our scout. Worked great. I think I'll try the vigil and get some exp. at jumping around in low sec and black rise. Good thing I got a jump clone.

I actually saw someone scouting in a pod the other night. I was in a 30-ship factional warfare fleet and a enemy pod kept tailing us. He could enter warp so quickly that we just gave up trying to lock him.
I agree with Derul Mant, though. If you can't get into a Covert Ops or Interceptor yet, just find a fast frigate and set it up for speed. Set your keep-at and orbit distances high enough to stay out of overheated disruptor range -- 30k should do unless they have a 150m ISK faction module.
You'll like Covert Ops better though. Nothing is more fun than sitting cloaked and taking your time while you tally up the enemy ship types for your fleet mates.

Interceptors can work quite well. Even with cloaks, they lock really quick, and have a combat role too.
A rifter or a vigil can make quite a nice 'light scout with cloak' though.
As can shuttles or pods - they're very fast into warp, and hard to lock - where there are no bubbles, they might as well be invulnerable. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Just tried the vigil for a few hours. Works great - zipped around the black rise area, got away from 2 wt's and avoided 1 gatecamp. even managed to recapture 2 contested minor outpost. Great speed w or w/out the mwd. thanks for the advice.
