I am wondering which gives better income. I know level 4 missioning gives around 10-20ml/hr on average but I am not sure about 0.0 ratting. |

If im lucky with some bs chains i can get 10-15mil/h. But im a very low SP char. You can get more than that. |

I tried 0.0 ratting recently and was only able to make 10-15m per hour and only when I had the system to myself, which drops off considerably when others are in the same belts.
I can make up to 40m per hour including loot/salvage with the better L4 missions.

well, I get 10Mph in bounties only without chaining, after corp tax. Add to this loot, salvage and occasional faction spawn, i'd say another 10M.

Level 4 missioning VS 0.0 ratting income VS mission invading.
Invading is usually feast or famine. But on average I can pull in 10m in an hour or so.
I don't know what the name of the mission I invaded last night was, but there was three gates and a boatload of BS's with a minimum of 1/2 a mil to the biggest BS of 1,125,000 bounty.
I changed to my BS and went NPC popping for a total bounty collection of close enough to call it 10mil.
Plus I went back and looted/salvaged everything and came out with approx another 10 mil in salvage and reprocessed lootz.
Just about 20m in about 1-1/2 hours.
Granted that was a good night/mission invasion, but the average is close enough to 10mph to call it that.

when you're mission running you can seriously pimp out your ship (and run the risk of suicide ganking, nty, but some pimp anyway), a ship that will be a faction ship anyhow like the CNR, and just burn mission after mission with no real danger.
Add to that Salvage, Loot, ease of mechantability in highsec, LP stores (and the skills that boost your LP and mission reward gain) and you get a nice income.
I don't know how 0.0 ratting truely compares but proper missioning is somewhat more than 15mil per hour. |

10m in a hour rattin in 0.0? thats very poor ..
im ratting in a hurrican and get around 6-8m evry 15min.. so thats around 24-32 millions/hour in Battlecruiser.
so if you are in a Battleship it gos up around 50m/hour
oh and this is without loot and salvaging

if you are doing level 4 missions with decent skills and thinking you can easily cross 10 mil./hour and reach upto 20mil./hour.
Now if you are ratting in 0.0, its totally different game as what you will get depends on which part of 0.0 you are ratting? do you have outpost or station access to store/reprocess the loot and salvage? in some ****ty 0.0 you can make close to 15-20 mil/hour isk if you are ratting alone. But in some good 0.0 regions you can make quite more than that. Also if you are ratting in 0.0 it means you are in a 0.0 alliance and then you won't rat all the time and you will defend or go on other ops and your isk/hour will decrease.

This. It all depends on if it's true nullsec or the borderline stuff. |

You also need to account for a lot more out in 0.0. You have hostiles to contend with along with other ratters.
Then there's the hassle of looting/salvaging and moving said loot around. Hauling it out of 0.0 could be a hassle too.
0.0 you get the benefit of named spawns and decent cash if you can chain. With missions you get the bonus of loyalty points for extra income potential, easier/safer to salvage and manage loot and you can get faction missions which help you use locator agents and such.
I had characters in 0.0 and I made very little cash when there were hostiles out and about every single day and I always dreaded if I didn't have someone help move the good stuff out to Empire.

In general, ratting in good 0.0 is more lucrative than doing L4 missions, and ratting in poor 0.0/low sec, ranges from 'about as good' to 'rather poor'.
But there are so many variables. In 0.0: are you chaining or cleaning out the belts hoping for officer/faction spawns? Are you in NPC sov? What is the true sec? Do you loot and salvage? Do you have the system to yourself?
For missioning: are you speed running the missions in a gank fit, or plodding through them with a perma tank set up? Do you decline the bad missions and just run the good missions? Do you run them with two chars? Do you loot? Do you salvage? On which missions?

Dual accounting L4 missions can easily climb to 50 mil/h total (25 mil/h per account), with no particular effort.
I easily make 20 mil/h doing solo speed-run L4s in my Nighthawk if I cherry-pick my missions and some of the dropped loot (ignoring rest of loot and salvage), and I could make roughly 15 mil/h in my Drake solo, then coming back to loot/salvage in a destroyer.
Does 0.0 ratting come close to this ? Andin almost complete safety ?

i make roughly between 30-40M and hour sometimes 50M, you just need to properly condition the belts to get 1.1-1.5M triple spawns at each belt |

You can further optimize your 0.0 ratting experience by bookmarking the spawn points so you're right within optimal range for weapons and looting/salvaging.

i know someone that makes over 200m a day hunting angels. and they dont collect loot or salvage the wrecks lol. he only uses a cerb too..
oh on a personal note. doing lvl 4 missions in 0.0 i made 1b a week if i had someone to collect my tags for me from emipre ships.
They got all the salvage and all the loot while i just got tags. they also got 50% of any bounties when possible which wasnt that often lol.
750m for a machariel bpc and easy 300m from tags. |

Edited by: Tamoko on 01/07/2008 06:33:50 I make fifty to seventy million an hour ratting 0.0 once I have spent some prep time building some chains. This can take anywhere from five minutes to hours, depending on how stubborn the RNG* wants to be at any particular point.
The best tip I may provide is: Don't look at bounties. While I can't speak for every regions' rat loot, in my particular case, the loot I collect is worth more than the bounties. As a result, I wont wipe out any existing chain, even if it's only a double 500K spawn. I also reach said isk per hour by dual boxing a loot & salvage ship, and depositing the loot in anchored cans or a pos hangar, then consolidating it at a refinery later. 3900 m3 loot fairly consistently yields me about 55 million isk. I can fill one of these cans in about an hour of good spawns. If space is limited, I am a bit choosy with my loot: I'll scoop things like guns and named modules, and leave behind large, cheap items like capacitor batteries, booster charges, nos, et al.

In my experience, above that, and if you dock at the first sign of hostiles risk is practically 0.
Ratting is different from mining as you will lose very little docking and waiting (or docking and switching to a PvP ship to fight the intruders). |

L4 easily gives much more - even with low skills.
I have two accounts. This in high-sec in a raven, and one in 00 who rats. Qorvu is the one providing a stable income while the other may strike gold from time to time.

Well, dunno how to count the time you spend for chaining belts in 0.0, sometimes 30min sometimes more then 1h. But after mangaging to get +3x 3er spawns my income is 40-60mil/h . Drone regions, boring but most efficient ratting existing. Theres not much difference if its a poor bs rat or a Queen, all about 2-3mil worth of alloys in it. So its all about killspeed and respawn ( respawn is the factor which limits its most of the time, even solo in a 15 belt system -0,8.).
On the other hand drone ratting is the most boring thing anyone ( excluding ccp maybe) can think of.

Missions you can do without paying attention at all. Depending how fast you go loot/not loot salvage/not salvage crappy corp/good corp it will range from 10m/hr to 60m/hr.
0.0 ratting you need a decent system, paying attention, not having someone blue come mess up your chains, plus downtime if people decide to stick around and try to kill you - which will range from 0m/hr (hostile gang) to 60m/hr (or more if you happen to get lucky over a short period of time)
