The currency your billed in varies on what part of the world your in. So most European countries will be charged euros. America US dollars.

Edited by: Blood Daemon on 01/07/2008 17:55:10 I'm not trolling I have proof..
I subscribed the other day/week (not my first account, but who cares).. And isntead of taking the usual ú10 ($19.99), it took ú16.26 and an EXTRA EXTRA ú1.50 (this charge was for using my debit card, so nothing to do with CCP)..
Also with me not knowing I was getting charged so bleeding high, I took and extra ú10.00 out of the bank, which then once the money cleared put my balance into -ú0.04 so I am going to get a bank charge of ú30 just for goin 4 pence under.
A cut-out from my statement
I don't bother with petitions, I would just like an explination as to why it has done this.. I'm not even looking to see if im eligable for re-imburstment due to an error (which is probs laughs an giggles)..
Neways does everyone get charged this much??
P.S. If your wondering why the dates are I signed up on the 23rd of June, and it took 4 days to clear, so it still showed ú10.00 available balance, i took the 10 out last friday, an i heading for a service charge :'(

Purchasing a new account costs 19.95 EUR if you're in Europe (19.95 USD if you're anywhere else, both includes 30 days of game time) which is about 16 GBP according to the online currency converter I used to check this so it seems you were charged the correct amount.

Knowing that you face an overdraft fee if your account goes into red, you should try to keep a buffer in there in case of such events. I'd imagine they make good money off of the average person's lack of self control.
I'm guilty of it myself, I think I've had 2 or 3 overdraft charges so far this year.

You don't. If you buy a GTC, you pay for 60 days and not 30 that's all. In effect, the new account cost is 30 days of extra trial time. Why would anyone pay for 60 days if they are still not sure if they will like the game? Trial accounts prevent you from using so much in the game that a further 30 days paid would allow. Using this 30 days with access to everything should be enough to allow you to make up your mind fully.
However, if you are already hooked on it by then...

It keeps coming up because mental giants, such as yourself, can't seem to understand the simple answer. Even after it is explained to you 50 times, you just keep yammering on because it's not the answer you wanted to hear.

This also works with Lloyds TSB. I went 52p overdrawn due to an international fee, on a debit account. I complained and they just asked for the 52p, and removed the extra charges. _________________________________________________________

Take VAT of the UK price first and its only $480 equivilent. Still more but people always do this. They compare UK prices to US without taking VAT off. Makes it nearly the same in most cases. Lol |

VAT. VAT is applied accross europe and is charged to the company so they have to include it in the price. In the US there is no VAT, instead different states have various amounts of sales tax which is applied after the purchase (ie is paid directly by the consumer). After you take the VAT (17.5%) off the europe price it is very similar. Dont forget back when the dollar was much stronger it was cheaper in europe pretty much. Lol |

Somehow I doubt the dollar is going to recover any time soon, also even taking into account vat there is still rather a large difference. ---------------------------------

well said, people give the blanket "omg VAT is 17.5%, take that off and its roughly t3h same, nao im leet cos of maths" whereas really, its a much bigger difference than 17.5% AND, you can hardly compare a ps3 1 time purchase to a reccuring subscription.
the fact is, the SAME retailer should not have different prices just becuase of a location difference these days, somebodies speel about amazon and stuff, thats a different ball game completely, i bet i can find a ps3 on some website for $5000 dollars, and ú1 somewhere else. when it comes down to it Subscription charges to a global community *should* be balanced.

Technically people in Europe and people in the United States pay the same amount. It's the value of a currency that is different. Blame the economies of the different nations for that one.
Plus I'm sure there would be more complaints if CCP changed the amount each month due to currency exchange. We'd be flooded with "Why did my subscription fee go up?!" threads. Combine that with the fact that it is extremely easy to decrease a price but extremely hard to increase it, CCP would be basically shooting themselves in the foot to change the price at all.

In the EU economic zone you get charged Euros (then converted to your local currency if you're not using the Euro), the rest of the world pays US$ converted as necessary. Basically 20$/eur for a new account and first month and $15 or Euro's for a single month after that. (less for multi-month subscriptions).
