Its time to upgrade... Reason: 6200Gforce
Would my new card run 2 accounts on 2x19inc monitors on Premium?
Or would I still have to play on Classic?
My new card is ATI RADEON HD4850 (512mb)
All info welcome
Thank you |

It should handle it quite well I think, but then again, I'm not an expert on graphics cards.

The Premium engine is optimized to run on the most recent cards, while the classic one is using ancient technology that current cards may have trouble rendering. Or so I've heard.

That sounds like a load of tosh.

dont use an ATI card with eve, it does weird things and runs like crap, atleast in my experience. Also as far as running two clients, that would depend alot on your ammount of memory and its bandwith, as well as the cpu clock speeds.

Last 2 replies are funny. Both lines have their own pros and cons sooooo Bottom line is match your graphic card with the chipset on the motherboard and you shouldn't have issues.

I have ATI 3870 and it runs EVE premium client just fine. 4850 is actually much faster than that card. However I havenŠt tried running two separate clients myself.

4850 should run 2 clients without any problems, enjoy your new card.

That is a really good card. But seeing you had a 6200 before, can you run it? because thats quite a difference (about 5 years)

If memory serves, 4850s are more or less top-end. Oh, enjoy your shineys. =D
If you've been using 6200 though, I have a feeling rest of your system may drag it down, or be incompatible altogether, so might want a look at that later. -------- MAIDS. Now with black, frilly uniforms. |

Hi
Well my card came and i build it this weekend
My 4850 runs 2 accounts on 2x19 inch beautifully..
I only have a AMD dual core 64 2500+ (not high spec)
That card certainly do the trick Big upgrade from my 6200Gforce
Hope you like it

I do
Do/did AMD make a chip with those specs?
I thought the lowest dual-core was the 3400+ (everything below being single-core apart from the new chips which follow a different numbering sequence)?

Edited by: Shereza on 10/07/2008 02:12:28 ATI cards do well enough with EVE and older cards can run Classic better than new cards in at least one instance.
I used to play on a Radeon 9800 All-In-Wonder card (Pro chipset, 128MB RAM) and I got about 25% more FPS per client in classic with that card than I do with my current Diamond-build x1650 Pro 512mb RAM.
In point of fact I get comparable FPS with 2 clients in Classic as I do with 2 clients set for Premium with every setting maxxed out which, frankly, is kinda bad. Premium on low settings gets the best performance, sadly.
EDIT: As for multiple clients, performance greatly depends on how you do it. Multiple clients on multiple monitors will give you a significant FPS drop. Multiple clients on a single monitor, even if you use EVE Launcher and run them in a semi-fullscreen window'd mode, suffers almost no FPS drop over a single client. Of course running a single client with multiple monitors active tanks your FPS, or at least it does if you're using my card. ____________________
