You could just reset by deleting your character and making a new one. But before you do that, please give me all your stuff . __________________________

Ah it's Michael Jack....
Although as a lowbie, it would be nice to have an opportunity to be one of the forerunners, but realistically, The best players will still group together, and would still get off to a flying start, and you will most likely still fail.
The history of eve is a huge part of why I play it, it really is a virtual world. It has it's own politics, Media etc. I'd imagine alot of this is down to the history of eve.
Just hang in, eventually the players bigger than you will give up and retire etc, theres not that many of the originals still around is there? And tbh, do you really think your gonna be facing them anytime soon?
So your not going to be flying Capital ships, that still doesn't mean you can't specialise in the smaller ships and still have a role in the game.

Yes, lets rob the people who have played since 2003 on their investment in time, money and effort! This is a highly excellent idea for sure. --- Its dead, Jim.

Bad idea.
The only thing intriguing about it might be to see EVE develop with no t2 BPOs, only invention. I think it would drastically alter what happened.
As someone else said they would need to tweak POSs incredibly, the low skill cost to deploy them is unbalanced against the hi skill cost for the ships needed to efficiently take them down (dreadnoughts).
I"m hoping the other guy in this thread suggesting real logistics and such is being sarcastic, otherwise he's dumber than the OP, logistics is not fun in a game and that's why so many dislike POS warfare....

It'd be very interesting to see how it would develop. How soon until majority of BPO's were owned and used, and how long until you had a functioning market, with all the stuff you need. How many would rage/emoquit, even if it's all just pixels, as some people keep saying?
If they made the Eve universe harsher while they're at it, that'd be great. No, not free noob ganks for all, not only a strongly reduced highsec, but make it so the elements are as likely to kill you as another player is. Have actual logistics play a huge part, as they do in the real world. Give ships ranges, fuel consumption, newtonian physics etc. You run out of fuel in deep space? Bye bye that clone, unless you can call for help in time.
Give partial ship failures, so when you're at 1% hull, you'll be lucky just to get the ship docked in one piece, forget being able to fire your guns or pull high G maneuvers.
Have multiple ways of attacking, maybe a bit "Nexus:Jupiter Incident" style, but more complex.
Introduce multiple ways of travel, forget the silly gate/station chokepoints of today, have a lot of the universe unmapped, but some way to travel in it. Have scanners/listening posts that you can set up to detect incoming fleets, but leave a lot of room for detection and spying. Certainly no entire iuniverse star map statistics at the touch of a button.
Introduce navigation, not as a simple skill to train to lvl 5, but as in you need to have some real life skill to do it, or at least allow advantages to those who do. Something like manual targetting in SilentHunter, but for navigation in space.
Do away with the alt infestation, somehow.
Yeah, I'm just exremely bored at work, for the second week in a row. And I guess I'm not really talking about Eve improvements here, but Eve 2....or 5.
Seriously though, I'm not in favor of a reset. If they made Eve 2, separate server, more complex game, I'd go for it for sure.
As a player of the game since early 2004, I would definately go for this kind of idea

The only good thing to come of it would be a reset of all the nerfs that have reduced certain mods to scrap value.

Only justification ever for a server reset is if something incredibly unbalancing happens on a scale that's beyond repair.
I used to play a game called Mankind. It was fun, at first - Galactic-wide MMORTS on a single server with a similar scale to EVE (only, with less players). I spent months building up several systems, essentially playing Simcity for ages getting huge cities and system-wide space-bourne defences up and running, and now that I finally had my own high-end planet (think Promethium moon, only with 100x the logistics nightmare) was finally able to start pumping out warships...
Then the server HDD crashed, and lots of data was lost. The idiots in charge hadn't backed up a thing in 6 months. Some people were completely unaffected, as their system wasn't part of the damaged data. Others, however (including myself) lost pretty much everything, with no hope whatsoever for reimbursement of any kind.
Tinfoil started flying, as wars that were being won were now being lost; accusations of dev favouritism (the devs were chinese, and lots of chinese players wern't affected in any way) soon flew out of control - Devs were pressured for a server reset to even the field again, but too many vets threatened to quit over it, so they didn't. They lost about half their playerbase right there.
That was about a month before EVE came out. I didn't renew my sub.
Makes me appreciate CCP a bit more, really. Yes they make mistakes but we could have a lot worse... ...

I did think this, but eve servers have issues as it is, I don't think they will handle another server, or ccp able/willing to buy another set of servers (especially considering they just got servers for eve-china?)
I don't think it's an option. This is a problem that you get in ALL mmo's, if it's that big a deal, or feel that hard done by, your simply gonna have to wait till a new mmo comes out, join that straight away and pray you'll like it.
Age of Conan is new, Warhammer-Online is out soon. Only problem is, you'll be hard pushed to find another pure Space Ship game anytime soon.

It took me 5y to get what I have ingame ... I am not going to give that up without a fight just because somebody else "heard about EVE only now !".
He can do the same, spend the next 5y to accumulate ingame wealth. He might have even more then me.
Let's ask him then if he wants a reset. I bet I know the answer.

Resetting the servers would be border on absurdity. It would no doubt cause a large portion of the playerbase to abandon the game infuriated over the loss of investment. The loss of investement being the loss of training time payed for via montly subscription fees.
It's been stated often to the level of being a cliche, however there is a reason for this, it is the truth. Learn and adapt.
You can quite comfortably compete with players who have subscribed for years in a few months of playtime. The only difference is the level of variety available to the veterans, where as you need to specialize to compete to begin with, they have already done so and have since branched out.

They have had their own server for well over a year maybe 2. Simply put, this has to do with Chinese law, and also CCP thought it would actually be a good source of additional revenue, which so far I don't think has worked out very well. .

Frankly, this is a terrible, worn-out troll, OP. I can't be arsed to give you a flaming response full of vigor and unbridled rage, which I've shown to previous posters who've thought it would be worth a laugh to post the same exact suggestion. Do consider which game you're playing nowadays, and do read up on the history of EVE over the last five years. These same canned questions will elicit the same tired responses, ad nauseum.

I would quit Eve if they restarted the whole thing.
Sure, start a new server if you want as long as it doesn't degrade my char/skills etc in any way.
As it is I find it hard coming to terms that CCP won't be here forever and one day they will have a news article stating that in X weeks your thousands of hours Eve investment will be lost
