I was playing around with EFT and I realized something, I get a better passive tank with an apocaplypse when I go for passive hull tanking than when I go for passive armor tanking. [Low] 7x Reinforced Bulkheads II 1x Damage Control II [Med] a few large Hull Repairers stuff
[high] whatever suits your suicidal mood

Edited by: AstroPhobic on 03/07/2008 20:36:38 Hull tanks can be effective in the surprise method, but with trimarks and some decent buffer/resistance, you'll outpreform it EHP wise.
That, and it renders all of your lows unable for damage mods. Even if you like the hull tank, you don't want large hull repairers. Their efficiency is awful, and you'll want the mids.

Even with hardeners and 1600mm plates I didnt geht more EHP with passive armor tanks than with the hull tank..

Edited by: DubanFP on 03/07/2008 23:03:11 Actually a hull tank can be pretty powerful. I did the math. However it is a bad idea to use one for 1 reason and 1 reason only. Take your maximum HP on a powerful vessel like that. Divide it by the repair amount of a Large Hull rep then multiply it by the duration. You will soon find out that it will take hours, literally, to repair and the repair cost at a station is higher then the cost of the vessel itself. _______________

I'd say it's not so much that - as that it can't be efficiently remote repaired in space. Most outposts in 0.0 have 0 repair cost for friendlies - not really an issue. However RR gangs can be nasty.
