That's why you should just do the freakin' math in your head. Because "Mining For Dummies 2.0" would kill the servers with redundant checks until the CPU melts.
This has already been addressed in the second post and alternative solutions were provided in the following posts up until your moderated post.
To repeat: Instead of constant DB calls an approximation is shown that is calculated from the last scan result and your mining efforts. -------- Ideas for: Mining |

is the piechart clock under some sort of weird patent or why is it not being implemented? ---- You don't have to like it - I don't blame you for not liking it. |

Originally by: Gerard Deneth The thought comes to my mind that you could dump this modality onto the client if need be. One can already get per-cycle yield and cycle time is also known (based on skills/implants) it should be possible to work out a timer of some kind (perhaps similar in appearance to the jammer/dampner cycles?). It isn't actually affecting anything ingame, especially when the math behind it all is all but presented in picture format.
I doubt any of us are looking for a per-item counter, but something that can get us to the rough ballpark like that would be great.
Whell it good idea... too shame i cant program this :)thats fis dont need any server side changes... sounds like add-ons :)

Well this is another good way to display progress

The only timer I could bring myself to justify is one that says how long the cycle has left to run. Anything else is just making it to easy.

But it would make miners more profitable then the afk miners. I like the idea and it may be as easy as having it apear just like the jammed bar on the target icon.

i skimmed through about 7 posts then jumped to end after reading plenty of flame etc. pls stop the flame.
as for the original idea it has been mentioned before though having it as a % of whats left and having it displayed as a number % is new. If this is done I suggest it would be worked in with the scanner.

could we get the option to have manual lasers instead of autorepeating?

Pretty sure you'll see that, if you right click the modules? ---
Don't take my rantings personally. I may just be arguing the topic... unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. |

Piechart clock plz... on all modules requiring activation. If they show remaining time in number even better, but give us at least piechart clock. Have that green thingy go from 12 to 0 before turning red.

Originally by: CCP Chronotis It is an interesting idea and has a good purpose to let you know how much you have mined so far if you were to deactivate now. I can tell you that the reason why we have ore appear in your cargohold at the end of the cycle or when you deactivate is DB load as updating a quantity every second for example would be a lot of DB calls however if we can find a nice way to approximate you current active mined yield we will see about adding it along with the module duration timers
I havn't read all the replies, so this has probably been suggested before. Let the client do all the calculations. It know what ore is being mined, it knows how much the miner pull every cycle and it know how long the cycle. So the client can do everything needed. It doesn't have to be exact (imo).

The big problem with a scanner is that sometimes the rocks jump about. so you keep getting the rock you are mining in a different location on the scaner screen. It makes it hard to pin down the individual rock you are mining. Each time it cycles, the scroll bar resets to the top of the page.
It would also be nice to be able to link your survey scanner with your overview so that, if you are only showing Veldspar on the overview, Veldspar is the only ore you will see on the scanner. That would help people who are using T2 lasers with specific crystals. I currently have a specific ore overview setting for each type of ore so when I use Scordite crystals, I can set the overview to only show Scordite. Since the survey scanner doesn't have this functionality, the three rocks you are mining may be scattered across a much longer distance than the current height of the scanner screen. Or maybe only give you data on the rocks you are currently targetting as a choice.
Rather than changing the icon on the GUI, the survey scanner needds re-looking at. It has been the same way since the start and was never updated when T2 lasers and specific crystals were introduced.
