Edited by: Zebrakorn on 19/05/2004 12:00:13 I had a strange incident with my badger this morning. It got stuck coming out of the station. It was kind of in warp but going nowhere fast. So I had to quit and come back .. ten mins later I logged backed in and found my badger floating in the middle of nowhere!
I was just wondering .. if you (as an example) tell your ship to warp somewhere and then quit the game, does it carry out your orders while you're away or cancel them and just sit there? Similarly, if you're attacking someone and quit, does your ship continue to attack? What about autopilot .... will this take you to your destination if you quit the game or leave you floating? What probably happened is your ship was close to the station when you hit auto-pilot/warp. The station is a collidable object like roids so your ship slows right down to slower than a snail smoking a joint. The best thing to do in this instance is to turn auto-pilot off, hit stop my ship and then double click in space to your quickest way away from the station.
I believe that your ship stays in space for around 3 minutes after you log in order to try to stop you just loging in combat. When you log back in your ship will warp a short distance to a diferent place so that when you log back in you do not appear and suddenly gank or get ganked.
Hope this helps and I hope its accurate!

If you log out in space, your ship is supposed to warp to a safe location then disappear after a set amount of time. When you log back in, your ship will warp to the location it was in before you logged off.

Ohhhh.. I didn''t realise! I thought the idea was that if you leave you log out whilst in space, you''re vulnerable for attack .. ie .. your ship stays where you put it.
Well that''s cool .. I think I prefer it this way =)
Monty .. I''d actually told the ship to warp somewhere and it did what you said. Speed was "stopped" and it wouldn''t let me stop, dock, anything, because I was technically warping.
Thanks for the info guys =) |

If selecting "stop my ship" gives you the "can't navigate while warping" message, de-activate your auto pilot(if active) then press control+space this will cancel warp and you should be able to double click and fly away from the station.

You may be correct but im fairly sure this is not what happens or we would all be doing it when in combat and we are getting spanked. This would also not be possible if scrammbled.
I thought the idea with this reconnect warp was to help ....
a: if you CTD then you log back in so you are not suddenly ganked by 10 ships when you reconnect. All you see is a shuttle watching you when you crash.
b: (far more importantly) to stop people setting up ambushes where suddenly 10 of your mates log in right next to your joint enemy. This has been done, it was deemed an exploit and people were punished appropriatley. This came in .... at a guess .... as the fix for it?
However if you are correct, next time im scouting for a large fleet im gona warp in *print screen* the enemy and log out and log back in straight away. Saves all the alignment rubbish in which time im getting a keg of WHOOP opened on me.
Cheers all and be lucky!
EDIT: You are indeed correct! Damn! What a blag! It appears though that there is a timer of one minute where you are stationary and idle then you warp to a random safe spot. There is a thread in General Discussion regarding this very subject and how its pants. Must remember this when scouting, save me a few intereceptors! Darwin 4tw

I believe, if you log out then, log an alt in you will simply disappear

I wasn't actually in autopilot .. I was in warp because I'd told it to warp somewhere. Tried stopping and all that but it just wasn't interested! Luckily someone told me to log off for ten mins =) Grey things don't exist |
