For some time now I have been looking for a public access portal to Sov fleet doctrine philosophy. I am skilling up the core fit skills and some weapons with a few extras for me.
What I cannot seem to find even in the recruit forum is a typical or common fleet doctrine for Sov corps/alliances.
I would like to see somewhere corporations or alliances post fleet doctrines for up and coming characters who want to participate in 0.0 life. Admittedly, this is information that can compromise a fleets security so posing on alts would be encouraged as well as limiting the information to the most critical elements.
For someone training for 0.0 life, what would be best to train for? Combat Carriers Triage Carriers Dreadnaughts Battleships - fit type Freighters/Transports Black ops Mining
Weapon type typically fitted to large fleets Armor/shield tanking preferences - or both Other skills not commonly discussed that would make a player more valuable for Sov/0.0 Corps
The problem is that I (maybe most) would like to know how to be the most useful to a Sov alliance/corp. However, I do not want to waste 10Mil SP on mining if the fleet doctrine calls for everyone to fly a carrier or dread. This post makes a lot of assumptions about Sov fleets that I have little knowledge - admittedly. This is why I am posting to learn and better understand form many sources in a single place.
Please discuss different levels of needs to help understand areas of focus that are desired in large fleet or corporate structures in 0.0 AND WHY.
Thanks for this help.

Seems obvious: check killmails.
Try http://eve-kill.net/ and killmails posted about major fleet fights.

Yep, lots of kills by lots of different gangs. You are right on that one, but is says nothing about Sov 0.0 fleet doctrine and what one would be well to skill into.
I do not know if that Nyx pilot is backup, was out blobbing for S&G, has a primary role other than carrier, was accepted to Sov 0.0 corp with the expectation of making Nyx in 6 months, etc, etc, etc...
The forums are lacking in a discussion on fleet mechanics, fleet interactions, fleet bragging, fleet crime and punishment, Sov 0.0 fleet doctrine, typical fleet encounter strategies, etc.
First rule about Fleet Club is that you don't talk about Fleet Club?
Seriously, where is the discussion in how to be a valuable contribution to a Sov 0.0 fleet? |

It really depends on who you intend to fly with.
- Figure out where you want to live
- Find out who lives there now
- Check the kill board of that group to see common fleet fits

Its not that, but you asked a question that can not be answered. Its too broad. |

There are just a few FOTM fleet doctrines today....
AlphaFleet (Scimis > Maels > Huginn = Scorps > Snowflake > Light ECM > Tackle) Shielcats (Scimis > Rokhs > Huginn = Scorps > Snowflake > Light ECM > Tackle) AHACs (Guardians > Zealots = Lokis = Proteus > Snowflake Ships > Tackle) Hellcats (Guardians > Abaddons > Geddons > Scorpions (idk) > Snowflake Tackle > Light Tackle) Thundercats (Scimis > Tengus > Snowflake Tackle) Herocats (Scimis > Tempests > HICs = Dics > Tackle) DrakeFleet (Scimis > Drakes > Snowflake Tackle > Light ECM > Tackle) Welpfleet (Scimis > Hurricanes > Tackle)
Train for whatever you want. Most alliances fly every doctrine.
And don't train for BlOPs, Carrier / Dreadnoughts if you don't know how to s.hit money. |

Most alliances fly every doctrine. The best thing to train is Minmatar / Amarr Logi. You only need 2 ships and can fly in every fleet. And don't train for BlOPs, Carrier / Dreadnoughts if you don't know how to s.hit money. Quote:Seriously, where is the discussion in how to be a valuable contribution to a Sov 0.0 fleet? There is no discussion. If you join a alliance, they tell you what to train to be effective.
This is helpful. Thanks! |

Just a quick followup, there any options for Gallente specific ships? as all of these seem to be Caldari, Minmatar or Amarr. |

Gallente tend not to be use in large, uniform fleet doctorines as they are harder to use and not boring enough. Best option for gallente is to train proteus and join a WH corp :) |

Mostly as long range tackle.
DPS ships lacks range/tank/oomph of other races.
I need new signature. |
