I don't understand all the hatred towards donna noble, wether you like catherine tate or not, she had one brilliant thing about her....she wasn't mushy over him, and that is how Doctor Who should be.... I was distapointed Rose didn't die, cause I hate her character with a passion, she is a stroppy kid. Glad Gwen didn't die, cause life wouldn't be worth living if anything bad happened too her, but I feel the copped out of killing anyone...I know we had the Donna Doctor personality die, but I still think it lacked the punch that it seemed to be building up too, but don't get me wrong I enjoyed it....one thing I could have done without was the bleeding kiss! That was awful and wasn't needed, but then at least we don't have to suffer Russel T Davies fantasies anymore! Hope we find some way fo bringing the Daleks back after the Doctor2 caused their genocide, it just wouldn't be Doctor Who without the Dalek threat hanging over him...

I was ****ed off that the ending was waaaay too long and killed the episode for me. Granted, there was a lot to tie up, but surely they could have done it in a less less pathetic, lengthly way.
Kinda reminds me of that film that was made a few years back by the spielburg, the one with that robot kid. If you turned it off 15 minutes before the real ending, it would have been better.
The main story was awesome though, just wished I turned it off 15 minutes earlier.

Edited by: shaqarava on 05/07/2008 19:49:50 Disappointed that Tate won't be doing another season, she's a love-her-or-hate-her kinda character, but I really liked her, she seemed a down to Earth type. But it would have been terrific if she stayed as her Doctor-Donna personality, those two would have been crazy, and I'm sure that would have made for some great shows even if that idiot RTD stayed on. And I agree with Nigel, I hated Rose with a passion too, I felt sorry for the clone Doctor, he'll always be a second-rate copy of the original in her eyes, poor guy. I wouldn't mind if Martha becomes the Doctor's companion again, as much as I liked Donna, Martha seemed the only actually useful companion thus far.
And as for the Christmas 2008 teaser: Cybermen seem kinda meh now especially with what the Daleks were gonna do, what can they do that can top destroying all of reality? I think the Daleks should have remained a constant enemy like in American sci-fis, SG-1 with the Goa'uld, Atlantis with the Wraith, BSG with the Cylons. Even in the old seasons the Daleks were ever-present in some part of the universe waiting to surface instead of these one offs where the Doctor foils they're plans in a single episode or two. Thank god RTD is going though, a post on the IMDB forums caught my eye asking him "don't let the door hit your arse on the way out" lol.

Yea, I surprisingly liked the Dr. Donna part of the story too, sometimes she grates but most of the time I am not bothered :), glad the Rose storyline is dead, I actually liked her but not since she came back. Needed more Sally Sparrow tbh.
Glad RTD is going. but I feel slightly cheated this season with Moffat's double episode ruined by directing. Too much 'Hey, who turned off the lights' but still had a great story.
Anyway, Cybermen, meh..

Extermineiren!
According to google, the German word for "exterminate" is actually "ausrotten". I guess Daleks aren't too good at languages after all. __________________________

This. On so many levels, she's just irritated me non-stop after she kept coming back, it was like trying to flog a character on for more viewers.
Although, the spinning Daleks cracked me up. Especially "Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!".
Very good episode, the ending was dragging a bit, and the Cybermen... eh, not too sure what they can do, hopefully it'll be well written.

Edited by: Patch86 on 05/07/2008 22:22:30 I particularly liked the Donna ending:
"Donna's memory has been erased. She won't remember me, or anything we've done together. In fact, if we ever meet again, she'll instantly die. If anyone ever mentions me to her again, she'll instantly die. In fact, if she so much as thinks about any of the events in the last series again, she'll definitely die. Sorry about that."
Sort of like reassuring the fans: yes she's gone, and no she can never ever come back ------

1) The Daleks are'nt dead, so dont worry, we will hear their wonderful warcry again 2) The german for exterminate might be something different but people understood the joke with "Extermineiren!" or however its spelt. 3) I'm glad Tate has left if only because she brought her "am I bothered" Lauren character to every episode 4) I thought it was made fairly obvious at the end that Martha and Micky would be joining Torchwood after Captain Jack told Martha that she needed a change and Micky ran up to join them. Afterall, Torchwood is short of 2 characters and it would take another series to fully bed in some unknown characters. This way its easy as we already have them in our minds. 5) Rose getting the spare Doctor wraps it up neatly for me. At least it meant that we wouldnt be getting Rose back as an assistant. 5) Sarah Jane was woefully under-used in my humble opinion. As I can easily remember the 70's with her and Tom Bakers Doctor I look forward to seeing her. RTD could have easily made more of Davros remembering her from their Skaros episodes.
The only question left now, who is going to be the next assistant? No idea personally but i'm sure it will be female

I wouldn't say the regeneation was a cop out, all the signs were there that that would happen! Several shots of the hand etc in the previous episode and in fact through out the series....it also explained dalek caan's threefold man...remember also the hand was the only thing untouched by the extermination. However I am so happy russel t davies has gone, hopefully we won't have too see rose again...

Not to mention that travelling through deep space would have probably frozen the surface, the moon probably would have flung out of orbit in the time the Earth was gone, and the wild tides around Earth's oceans when it didn't have the moon in orbit. And I'm sure being suddenly plopped into the gravitational fields of several other planets, some of which I'm sure were larger than Earth, would have given Earth some tectonic activity all around the surface.

This. Not been a decent series closer in the new run yet imo - too much reliance on deus ex machina type stuff and yes, towing the planet home, atmospheric shell or no, was pretty weak stuff. That and I had to take the wife out for a meal straight after so I couldn't get to the forum to whine about it instantly Did like Davros' speech about the Doctor turning his companions into weapons though - shame he had to start chewing the scenery after that -------------------------------------------------- 'people will always be tempted to wipe their feet on anything with 'welcome' written on it.' |

I'm wondering when that person that they met in the libary is going to surface. To be inkeeping with the story line it will have to be before david tennent stops.
I'm sure the daleks will find some way of coming back. Never kept up with the background enough to know and I was half asleep when I was watching it but does dalek khan have the same DNA as the others and therefore would he have died? Theres probably some other far off dalek that will pop up at some point though.

Does anyone else think RTD got a bit lazy for his finale? Come on, a blow-up-every-dalek-in-existence button? A dalek remote control? K-9 popping into existence to save the day? I think he sort of overdid the deus ex machina thing there. __________________________

I was kind of disappointed, it lacked the punch the last season had at the end, although i'm glad catherine tate has gone. The new companion should be an up and coming actor and definately not his "daughter" she should show up though in the next season.
Thank god the rose story line is dead, it was so tiresome whats worse is the sucky love triangle they put in at the end with the Dr, Dr clone and her. They should never of brought that much "love" into the story, they made the Dr to real, he should be gritty or charismatic and humouress but not the center of love.

I loved the episode, two things bugged me when i watched it the second time.
The First was the reference to the Turn Left Episode when the stars where going out, how can they go out without the earth being pulled to the crucible.
The Second was when the doctor went to the Shadow Proclamation and the tardis didn't translate the first conversation.
Other than that i really liked it :P

I love Dr Who to bits but I would say there were some rather twee elements in the finale. That stupid Mr Smith computer and K9 (Gaaah!) Kids TV I guess (I'm 37). Thank god Donna is gone, she was crap.
I love Rose Tyler. I may have shed a tear at the reunion scene.

I do like him he's one of the more compelling characters, I liked it when Donna got up to ***** about the singing and he was already with them
(edit: he can also act which is a definate bonus.) __________________________ Indulge Me Consider Yourself Indulged - Immy ♥ Wow immy scored - Xorus
