I like being able to play an MMO, have a respectable career and not have to kill shit every time I turn around to get anything done. Also my job takes me away for months at a time and being able to still train skills and do research during those times is very nice for me as well. hmmm it was SO shit you did it for 2 years. makes sense

Eve can you influence the world around you, indeed - everyone influences the world to varying degrees, whether they realize it or not. This is the big thing for me - you decide what you want to do and what you want to make happen - not the devs. They just give you shiny toys to play with. Also, like I said, being able to take breaks and not fall behind is another big thing for me that sealed the deal. Of course, Eve has much more to offer than that (Personally I love the skill system and think that's the main thing that has given Eve so much longevity), but those two are what made me come over from WoW. Been here a year now, don't plan on quitting anytime soon.

The pre burning crusade raids were far harder in that you needed to manage a working team that didn't just want in for a free ride to loot stuff. Once you got the right skill combinations and group tactics nailed you could just about do them without thinking if you had a good team behind you. I left due to the increasing downturn in maturity of the community coupled up with the expansion being easy mode by comparison to what came before it. Plus the game world was always so static and you couldn't really have any impact or change things. Just grind on a never ending ladder of progression and mini games. wash rinse repeat. Eve however has player run alliances and sometimes with luck and being around the right place at the right time, the chance to shape the future of the game world on some scale. Plus the community I've gotten to know are whats likely to keep me here in the long run. When eveyones a hero doing the same thing. It becomes pointless.

This gave them 10 million subscribers, most of whom are NOT gamers. And it drained the challenge out of it, sending the real gamers (who don't make up much of the population) hunting for something else. I miss when games were actually hard.
