Well as there will be no gates for them to camp we need to keep them happy some how. The less violent community don't want them close by as they feel it is just a pure gank excercise when they attack so lets have 50 jump gate systems where NPC's randomly jump through the gates for the camper to play catch with.
This way they have prey and also no smack or grief from the said target asking for a reason.

um...I think he was being sarcastic...I mean...the way he suggested it, the suggestion in the first place is a little extreme, the language and such...I could be wrong, but I think he was.

I'd much rather see warp drives removed from the game. Systems made smaller, with the addition of jump gates say 50km from a station. Also with an increase to the speed of mwd/afterburners. Reduction in max scan range.
This way it may finally be possible to lay ambushes behind planets or elsewhere, hitting ships as they travel from gate to gate. Travelling from one end of the map to the other, should be a huge undertaking (aside from the jumps you can skip with the highways) and should take many evenings of play to acheive.
Unfortunatly, I think these changes would be too large to handle considering everything else already planned for eve. They'd require too much testing and tweaking to balance correctly, to allow successful and disastress hit and runs. Not to mention, people are now used to fast travel.
But who knows, whatever game ccp come up with next, if its space based, may use these ideas :)

So jump drives = jumpgates?, hmmm, looks like the gankers will still get their easy kills then, it will probably make it even easier due to the fact you're jump drive will probably take a while to warm up or summit.

It is impossible to get rid of the jumpgates. As it clearly reads in the scientific database, you require one jump gate at one end, and one at the destination point. Sure, jumpdrives will eliminate the need for the initial jumpgate, but the destination jumpgate is still requisite, unless you want to jump into the middle of nowhere.
In addition to this, I hope that these jumpdrives that are on their way will only be fitted to Battleships due to the massive power requirement I'm hoping they come out with. Anyhow, jumpgates will not disappear unless some brilliant Jovian figures out how to jump with only one originating point. Eat me.

I didn't read the rest of the posts, but I don't think he wants to replace gates with a jump drive that will jump you to any system...
In fact, I believe he wants to get rid of the stargates, and make us warp. A Light year is 63k AUs, or so, I think. The new revamped system will contain 'distance between the stars' variable. When you set destination to a star system, the computer will calculate the time needed to warp (including all the capacitor recharge "rest" times), from then on it will be like skill training- you warp even when you log off.
This system will bring a whole new meaning to the skill "Warp Drive Operation" and Cruiser-Battleship-Frigate-Indy warp speed differences.

notice when anything is suggested to make pkers/greefers hafe to work for there kills. they jump on the boards and whine more then a 1 year old that is about to have it's toy taken away. It's easy to tell a pker/greefer grom a true pvper sence a true pvper loves the hunt and kill of an honest target better then the cheep kill that is the callsign of a pker/greefer.
on a sad note ccp replyed to a message, and there responce was
"Jumpgate camping is not an offence".

you guys, the closest star is like what 25 LIGHTYEARS away, it took me 30 minutes once to jump 2100 au out of the system (got bored), in a apoc with pretty big cap. itll take a MONTH to jump systems like that
