Sitting here at my office desk (not working sticking it to the man!) It has come across my mind that I have never had a real 1v1.
A real 1v1 meaing that no one warps in/undocks to assist one of the pilots. Every time, ive had buddies warp in or they have had buddies warp in. Its gotten to the point now that i use 1v1s to start fleet battles
has any one actually had a 1v1 that was just a 1v1?

I'm having a hard time understanding why someone would agree to a fight on these terms. If you find yourself in a fair fight, someone's screwed up.

During Star Fraction's stay down in Providence last year I had several pre-arranged 1v1s that were honored by various of the Amarrian Loyalist corps including Paxton, CVA, PIE, Severence and (the now Dead) BORG. Only 2 1v1s I have had have ever been dishonored both by the now defunct Tri. Having siad that unless it is specifically agreed to as a 1v1 beforehand I would never expect it to remain that way.

Yes, I have had several. If fact there was one isntace with Black-Out pilot where I asked him for a 1v1 when he was in a fleet that was passing by. He agreed, left his fleet and we fought there was no nonsence and no tricks. The pilot's name was Erroch. Also had one last night.
Maybe it is just because I fly intys a bunch and so to the people I tend to 1v1. But those fights are out there.

A few honor it, but it is still very gulibleu to accept a 1v1.
The ones that would honor a 1v1 fit apropriatly to counter your set up, this is why I never do 1v1's it's a lose|lose scenario.

The only 1v1's I've had were when my target had no one nearby to call for help, and I managed to kill it before the rest of my gang arrived.
In EVE it hurts to lose your ship, it's only natural people do everything in their power to tip the odds in their favor, massively if necessary. It's why we get blobs.

If you aren't honoring 1v1s I find it hard to imagine why you would expect others to honor them.

The better question is do you? Because last week you were trying to bait people with a fleet of 12 ships sitting in the next system.

I have had quite a few with members of CVA and PIE etc. Some of the few people you can generally expect to honour their word for a pre-arranged 1v1.

Maybe the corp name has something to do with the OP finding it hard to get honourable 1v1 fights.
I've had a few and out of those, two have now joined my corp. Both times, they were roaming in gangs and told their gang mates in local and on vent to stay out of it.

1 v 1's are wonderful and fun.
However, PVP in EVE is based around the 'gank or be ganked' principle, and pretty much always will, as players almost always want to insure victory for themselves, even at the expense of a fair fight.
This is one of the driving reason I created this thread *link, as a proposed idea to facilitate players being able to engage in more or less even PVP at choice. It may not be the best idea, but it did start a brief discussion along the lines of this thread.

Most don't honor it so I don't expect anyone to, and this is a good example of how being gullible/innocent doesn't mix with a game like EVE. Good way to start a battle though, no point to honor a 1v1 when most people don't.
I either deny the opponent and refuse the challenge, or I take the opportunity to kill them before they have much a chance to react - if I can help it, I like to kill all opposition when they are ill prepared and unaware of the situation, or distort\manipulate\confuse what they do know about me and what I'm doing, then kill them - and make sure they can't get up off the ground anytime soon. Dirty methods, but welcome to EVE.

I have had one 1-on-1, when I was only 4 months old. We were closely matched in enemy corps and both wanted to shoot at each other, but were at the gate and no-one was willing to take the first shot. None of our corpies were in system.
So we agreed on ship class and both warped to a planet and fought: minmatar v caldari frigates. It was thoroughly enjoyable (perhaps more so for me due to winning), and there were no hard feelings on either side.
Not only have I not had a similar 1-on-1 since, but I don't think I've been in a situation where such a 1-on-1 would have been viable.

There are still ppl in eve that will honor 1v1s.
Look for ppl from the corp 'd00m' or if I'm about, I'll give you a 1v1. 1v1 is where you can settle down and have a blast. When its 1v99, people's eyes tend to glaze over and they reach for their Wii remotes. -- Two fat blokes in a pub, one says to the other "your round." The other one says "So are you, you fat git!" |
