As one of the most important parts of the current testing is ship balance, I propose giving all players on chaos all frigate/cruiser/BS skills on lvl4. I think this would make the discussion in the "Ships and Modules" forums a lot more fruitful and interesting.

The most important part of testing, is testing it at all skill levels, not just skill level 4.

Good idea Hellek.
Whats the point of a test server you cant test on until you have spent a few weeks training the skills needed to test the changes. And even if you cant fly a bs's on TQ the changes are still going to effect you, and you should have the opportunity to test them on chaos just as much as anyone else.
And i know someone has posted about this in another thread... but please put(or atleast look into) some restrictions on chaos. 31player limit sucks, especialy when its the same people on there day in day out, for 12 hours at a time. Yes maybe that didnt matter before, but with the amount of changes proposed and the number of people they effect, getting feedback from a small group of people is going to give limited and pointless views. 2004.08.22 21:03:00 combat Your Anode Light Neutron Particle Cannon I perfectly strikes callonious [BSC], wrecking for 236.9 damage. |

orestes, this is true, but lvl4 is still better than not having them at all. lvl4 is very common I think, of course it could also be made lvl3. (I think lvl1-2 are very uncommon and therefore not really important).

Lvl 1-2 are unimportant. So when I train my Gallente BS to level 2 and discover I'm getting a 500% modifier to my damage as opposed to a 5% thats an unimportant bug is it?
I would like to be able to fly my BS on chaos too, but a better solution would be more regular ports from TQ.

A nightmare? How about the people that that are in battleships on TQ but in chaos there skills are all the way back when they were in a frigate.

Edited by: Estios on 21/05/2004 09:34:29 I keep seeing you state no one should compare figures at lvl5 and only do it at 4 Hellek, thats kinda silly being as you should always compare things at their highest lvl as this is where the figures can really start to get imbalanced.
I myself am only a few days from BS lvl 5 and know of others who already have trained it.
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

how about insta-training skills? or a 100x multiplier? hell, even a 10x multiplier.

tbh the only thing we need on chaos is to mirror TQ more often. --

I think Helleks point is that inorder to compare the different race's ships you need to be able to fly them all. Personally I would be happy if we all had frig 4 cruiser 4 and then whatever bship skill we already didnt have to lvl 2 that way we can fly all the ships.
An objective comparison of the different race's ships can only be made if you can fly them all and it is realistic enough that you have bship skill at lvl 2 with more lvls in whichever race bship you specialise in.
Why dont you just DIE DIE DIE !!!!

Edited by: Hellek on 21/05/2004 12:07:58 yeah, what Darken said ...
Estios: grats to lvl5, but only very, very few people have it and for balance, CCP should look at the average player mainly. Sure they should ensure that its also balanced in the high and low levels, but the focus should be on the average.
PS: I also think that speeding up training by a factor of 10 or 100 (or even 1000) would be a good solution, especially as it would solve such problems forever and not for just one specific case.

Oh yeah dont get me wrong, I understand where you are coming from and yes lvl 4 is the norm but Im just saying in dangerous to work to assumptions when balancing.
For true balance you must look at extremes and ensure something cannot become too extreme with skills.
Therefore I feel calculations should ALWAYS be made after considering what is possible and not what is usual
