I am not sure what router you are using, but I play from behind a Linksys Wireless-G/4port router. I have no problems getting it set up at all. I plugged the router in and run my network off my router. I simply followed the install guide that came with the router. Both my wife and I play at the same time from behind the router with little or no connecting problems. One thing to check is to see if your router does network address translation. Mine does but the router appears to be smart enough to get the packets to the correct computer.

I think the problem actually lies not in the router itself but in a firewall. Does the router have any inbuilt security such as blocking ports or services?
If so, then its here we need to look. I came to the conclusion that its easier to disable most (if not all) security features on a router and if you want a firewall then run something like sygate or another application level filter.
So, in terms of the problem. Make sure the router isn't blocking any ports or services.
If you can post what router you are using then i'll take a bit more of a look. Cheers

I had the exact same problem with my D-Link router. Could not connect to TQ or the myeve server and it all happened after I got a new ip from my isp. The only solution I found was to force a new ip and after a few tries, I could finally connect again. I guess thats what fixed your problem also, a new ip. I sent in a petition about this and the GM said he would forward the problem to the devs since this happens every now and then to different users.
