My eve is crashing after I just started it. It crashes after 4-8 seconds. When I look at the "shell" terminal I see this error message at the end "WARNING Optical drive detection: there appears to be an incompatibility with installed dbus bindings".
This tells me something about a problem with dbus ???? But I looked and even re emerged dbus and hal. Made sure the USE flags were in make.conf (dbus and hal specifically) and it is there. the service is there so Gentoo starts with it and I do have the latest version of these "software". So in other words ?? wtf is that message meaning and how do I fix this thing so I can start using EVE in gentoo and get rid of Windows?
Just for info, I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 and I can play with it so the drivers are not the problem. I can see that direct rendering is enabled also.
Here's the info from eve -config:
System/Hardware Information cpu: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz cpu_ghz: 3.0 memory: 2025 videocard_manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc. videocard_type: Radeon X1600 Series videocard_ram: 256 agp_aperture_size: N/A videocard_driver_version: 2.1.7415 Release soundcard: SB Live 5.1 (rev.7, serial:0x80641102) at 0xa000, irq 2 soundcard_driver: ALSA Version 1.0.16 machine_bitness: 32 kernel: 2.6.19-gentoo-r5 x_version: Xorg Version 1.3.0 distro: Gentoo Base System release 1.12.9 GUI version: eve-000066

Edited by: Hugh Ruka on 08/07/2008 13:05:05 wow, you can actualy log in to EVE with an ATI card ? I get screen corruption (tho I am not using the official client) everytime I run EVE.
I do not know hoe the cedege thing works, but you could disable cdrom access there to make it not probe for the device ? --- SIG --- CSM: your support is needed ! |

NV_VAR Extention in the graphic's tab was already unchecked but ARB_VBO was checked. I decided to uncheck and try it.
After a test it looks like it works. no more crashes. I can finally play the game. but now theres another problem which seems to be the white color in space...its annoying as hell. Looks like I'm gonna dig to know the solution for this.
Note: I'm a complete ******ed noob at Gentoo but I can get my way around to "try" to fix things.
