MMORPG talks about Risk vs Reward as if it existed in WoW. Funny read.
Linkage
Maybe I should have posted this in OOP. Its kind of Eve related since we actually have real risk of losing stuff here, but I think OOP might be better. Move it?

My eyes glazed over when i got to the part about "....weighing up adding heroic badge reward loot that was better than tier four raid loot (A tier loot based on Karazhan, Gruul and Magtheridon raid instances). On one hand, there is an option for tier five raid quality loot without stepping into raid content..."

There is only one risk in WoW as far as I can tell, and that is the risk of accidentally grouping with a bunch of total ******s/idiots/jackasses when running a PuG. Other than that, there's no risk.

It's more like..."Risk of Wasting Your Time versus Reward"
Wait...it isn't a "Risk of Wasting Your Time"...it is a guarantee that you will be wasting your time...
So, maybe it should be..."Guaranteed Wasting of your Time for Rewards"...

hey now at the risk of everyone calling me a noob i have re4cently started playing wow again and its not a bad game...now before everyone flames (well they will anyway but...) i still dont think its as good as eve for some things (like adrenaline rushes in pvp) however it does hit the nail on the head for pve which is hella more fun. Admittedly though the biggest hate point is that 90^ of wow players are under 12 which makes it as annoying as hell 2 play in a group. Eve information kiosk

Yeah, the air is thick with elitism.
I enjoyed my time in WoW, and now I'm having fun here. *Shrug* What's the big effing deal?
Though he likely should have used the word "effort" instead of risk.

A while ago I could have agree'd that this community was full of mature players. But really its not.
WoW is a different genre with alot more carebears, but the community is starting to seem better than Eve's imo.

I guess his idea of risk is wasting your time for no reward, not, you know, actually risking anything in game.

To understand a WoW player talking about risk, you must know that WoW is such a boring game that you always risk wasting your time for no reward.
BTW I didn't know that "Risk vs. Reward" has an acronym that is 5 letters long. Can it be because EA/Mythic trademarked "RvR"?

Yeah he's right! There's a lot of risk in WoW. Like, when you die? You have to ressurect! It takes like 10 whole seconds to get my ghost back to my body. Talk about agonizing andlaborious . Also, everything I'm wearing gets damaged by a bit, I have to get it repaired at the nearest town/city, which usually means I have to use my hearthstone to teleport back. Urgh, all that right clickin on my hearthston
there's tons of risk, see? You're all a load of elitist EVE players! Don't think you're better than Crumplecorn jsut because you play a game that happens to actually cater to people over the age of six!

You don't even take equipment damage if you die in PvP. Besides, you only have to repair once every 15 or so deaths anyway

Wrong. Unlike every other MMo you don't have to play to make your character stronger. I can go out with some friends and come home to a slightly stronger character. You can play for as little as 30 minutes a day and still advance at a normal rate. In no other MMO can you do this. If you want you WoW char to level up you have to grind your ass off doing quests and killing things.

Im never playing a grind game like WoW again. Once was enough, and I learned quickly from the mistake.
If I was unemployed, I might play it though. Its good for wasting time.

Edited by: Antodias on 10/07/2008 17:01:53 The risk is losing your sanity or dying horribly since WoW is probably the most frustrating game I've ever played and I felt like I was about to have an aneurysm every 10 minutes.
