Why do some of the spaceships have wings? I.E. Harbinger, Punisher etc. There is no air in space and therfore no air to keep the spaceship airborne, not that it needs to be airborne anyhows because IT IS IN SPCAE!!!!1
Maybe it would be for the atmospheric flight thing that CCCP is developing but they will never release because it apparantly doesnt work becuase they havenent released it yet so it isnt released. Even so, how the **** would caladari ships fly in an atmosphere? They are structurally unsound and not airodienamically sleek in the least bit at all, they would just tumble out of control and smash into a rock. THen the caldari pilot would be dead because he hit a rock and pod ejected into dirt and it splatter leaving him poodded by a planet and even if he did survive the tempature on some of the planets is leik 4000k so he would just die in a fire, which is cool because caladari are losers anyhow.
Tell me this now CCP or I will quit the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HERE ME!? QUIT THE GAME!!!??

Well yes maybe it is because of the atmospheric flight thingy, and just because we as players can't do it yet doesn't mean it can't be done in EVE's fiction world.. we just need to figure out how to do it as pod pilots, without destroying out pods (that would be, wait for the expansion)
And ships don't really need to be that aerodynamical if you have a lot of power thrusting you forward.. ;)
Then the sound thingy someone mentioned then CCP has answered that. It is a imaginary manifistation the pod pilots need to stay sane in the pods. That is why you hear a wind sound when in warp and why you hear explosions from your missiles etc..
Oh.. btw.. please leave your pod and don't let me have your stuff.. i have enough anyway ;)

Most of the wings are placed in a totally horrible way when we thing about flying in an athmosphere.
Harbinger's wings could have the technical justification of letting the weapons have a wider arc of fire, but the real reason is the "what looks good is good" principle.
What next? Ships can't fly straight when there's more thrusters on the other side? Newtonian physics? (Hey, I'd love Newtonian physics on sublight speeds.)

It is also possible that due to aesthetic reasons they were kept.
