I have run LVL4 missions in a Dominix and it is kinda boring and was wondering if the Hype is a good mission ship? Any mid/low slots setups that work best? What rigs if any would you use? I am just looking to remove some of the afkness from mission running and to try a new ship since i have never flown the Hype before.
When your holding a ban hammer in one hand and a nerf bat in the other do you really need to be honorable?

Edited by: Pteranodon on 11/07/2008 14:05:55 I've used a Hype in mission running with mixed success mostly due to my lack of gun skills. I'm sure it is a superb ship with good gun skills.
The most significant point for me, from a comfort factor, is the superb tank. With BS4/5 it reps like a god but needs care to keep the cap stable as if you put all guns in the highs it's a bit cap unfriendly.
You can run a similar tank to your domi but alas you don't get the drone space or damage enhancements from the drones & you only have 100m3 drone space but its enough for 10 medium which I use with this ship.
I tend to use my 2 Hype's only when I'm feeling bold as I just don't have the gun experience to get the best from her. How about a Megathron-tank not so good but bonus from BS to gun tracking-might be better if your gun skills are weak.
I've just carried on working up my Drone skills for the Domi-it is really starting to shine once you get into the 5 million skill points with your drones. Good luck to you which ever way you go it's a good ship & looks the business as well-I wish the Domi did not look like a potatoe
Edit: mostly fit the Hype like your Domi. I use 8 350mm protype guass guns as they track better than 425's & are an easier fit.

The Dominix is a much better, much easier ship to use. The Navy Megathron is a more fun, much better ship to use. With that said, the Hyperion does an okay job with 8x 350mm and dual LAR IIs. The tank is very nice with BS V. I use it only for the most difficult missions against Angels when I have to solo the mission (i.e. my normal wingman is not around). ------------

I only use the Hype for missions. I tested both Domi and Mega but didnt like them. Its a bit underrated as a mission runner. Its might not be as fast as Domi but it got some advantages. Less problem with drone aggro More dps than mega Great tank Drones need to travel
But there are somethings you need to be aware of when using it Whatever fitting you use always have atleast one tracking computer. It has a great tank but
There is one thing that have made me run missions faster now than before. You need to learn how much tank you need for every mission. Often you dont need 2 LAR II on most missions 1 is enoguh. But if you want you can go for an great tank. I manged to tank AE 4 bonus room without any trouble, but I had crappy dps(no dmg mods).
Here is the setup I use: [Hyperion, Mission] Armor Hardener II(mission specific) Armor Hardener II(mission specific) Armor Hardener II(mission specific, can be removed on some missions for another dmg mod) Magnetic Field Stabilizer II(hardner or LAr for better tank if you need) Magnetic Field Stabilizer II(if 2 LAR then you need CPR here) Large Armor Repairer II
100MN Afterburner II Tracking Computer II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L 350mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge L

Can you tell me what is yours hype setup for AE bonus room? Was trying with domi and ishtar and both times failed. With domi even 2x LAR2 + hardeners T2 2x explo, 2x kinetic, 1 termic was not enought.

those setups arnt bad but I suggest.
Highs 7x 425 T2 1x Drone Link augmenter
Mids 4x Cap recharger T2 1x Best Named Tracking comp
Lows 1x Lar T2 3x Rat specific Hardeners 2x MFS T2
Rigs 1x Nanobot accelerator 2x Auxiliary nanopump
Drones 5x T2 mediums 10x T2 lights
The Lar can rep 1472 every 9.5 seconds wich is more than enough missions. and before the EFT warriors jump me with their mathematics I built this hyp right after rigs came out and I have never lost it so I'll suggest what I know works from experience rather than what any tool (regardless of how nice) says might work better

You get more dps from 8 350 mm and you probly want to use antimatter so that drone link is not that much of use since the drones already are in range. The only time I feel I need more drone range is the first time I aggro some mobs. Also an afterburner speeds up travelling a lot

b4 i got my raven i ran the hyper its a much better mission ship than the domi 6x425mm prototypes drone aug and a small t2 blaster for frigs mids with cap rechargers maybe a web 2 x ccc and ANP resists LARII MARII and a plate eats lv 4 missions up.

hyperion is a great ship! if you want to run with 3 MFS, you have a real reason to buy a navy mega.
Lots of times i run 2 tracking computers with the optimal range script.
also great for level 3 missions if you fit 8x 250mm rails

oh and if you wanna fit eight 425mm rails, you just need to buy a abbadon. hype has like a fraction of the powergrid the abbadon has.... it makes up for it with a launcher hardpoint. hahaha

i currently run the hype with 2 CCC 3 cap rechargers 3-4 hardenres 1 repper
won't work on all missions. dual rep domi is clearly better some times.
My Hyperion has about 10,000 armor hitpoints. that means if i see my armor going down fast... i am truly in the shit.
I never run with a damage control.
truth be told, if you can't handle it with a single repper, you need a buddy there with a remote repper helping you.
I wouldn't put a faction tank on a hyperion. I mean having 2 less low slots than a navy megathron just screams "amateur"
But having 1 more railgun is a psychological thing... it makes up for it i think.

Edited by: Dvores on 15/07/2008 21:37:16 I've used both ships on my main. I like the Hype more than the Domi because it's not a snooze fest and does max out at a higher DPS with the right implants/skills. My setup, which admittedly CAN be broken, but you have to be really careless for that to happen...
Highs: 8x 350mm Prototype RG w/ AM or IR
Meds: 5x Cap Rech II
Lows: 1x 0.0 LAR (Amarr Navy LAR works well here, T2 will suffice) 2-5x Hardeners 0-3x Mag Stab IIs
Rigs: 2x Aux Nano Pump 1x CCC
Drones: 4x Ogre IIs
Anything that's cruiser-sized or larger gets eaten alive. My drones, with skills, have a 57km range, which is enough for all enemies. With 3 magstabs I can deal out ~650dps and tank 500, with 0 magstabs I deal 470dps and can tank 800+ depending on the enemy (easily reaches 11-1200dps). Edit: I have issues with spider drones every now and then, but normally it's a non-issue.
So, what can break my tank? I have some trouble in the AE bonus room until I kill the towers doing thermal damage. Pirate Invasion (I think) can break me if I'm careless. But both of these can break my domi just as easily. Just watch your agro and make sure you're tanked properly.
If you're going to use this, work on your gunnery skills a little. You don't need all 4s, 3s will suffice. T2 drones also help a ton. The last thing is watch your cap - I'm within 2 cap (from my recharge - draw) but I can permarun this setup.
Hope this Helps!

Edited by: Steg Amanlen on 16/07/2008 10:45:10 My lvl4 setup is included below. I seem to be the only advocate of blasters in missions. While you can spend alot if time chasing the rats around, the dps when you get there is plenty high enough to make up for that. The webby drone helps no-end too.
The setup below is completely cap-stable with the AB off and repairs nearly 1500 armor per cycle with BS4 (1645 overloaded). Both the rep and the AB can be swapped out for the T2 version, which fit no problem. There is also enough fitting leeway to fit T2 neutrons, when skills permit.
It will solo tank every lvl4 I've come up against, except perhaps the secret room in AE - I havn't tried that solo yet.
Hope that is helpful
Steg
