This is why we can't have nice things!
In Reality: BDCI are such control freaks that they can't stand being in an alliance they can't lead (hence their departure from Daisho (loldaisho)). Wonder how things will look over the next few days for RQM.

In reality, he got emo about the leadership deciding to change forum software / host. Then a little while later, his corporation left the alliance. Thus his access was revoked from the forums and IRC. He then wanted to sell us the domain, we refused. So he deemed it necessary to do what he did.
Somehow I think we made the right choice here.

Somehow i think your full of it, considering your history with Daishio. Also, funny how instead of a leadership person responding to this, a BDCI does it. :)

Total horse shit... he was kicked of an irc channel... he isn't in the alliance he doesn't need to see it. If he was happy to host anything msn is plenty of communication for such a thing, and the people who trusted him and gave him credibility are no longer in the alliance he in the tri camp and isn't that well known by rest of rqm. He doesn't need to see our intel channel. So posting personal info about 100's of people because your kicked of 1 irc channel linked to a game isn't low? not to mention most of those 100 or so people were nothing to do with the decision and appreciated his service. Though tbh I 100% agree with Seleene/leadership decision to get rid of anything he is linked to now...one of the most immature and emo events I have seen in this game and I have witnessed much drama on this forum.

Edited by: Karbowiak on 10/07/2008 22:38:28 i updated the post with a better bagground story, and i agree the sql release thingy was prolly not the smartest move (i guess my email is everywhere by now? :D) However - to any of you getting hosted at me already, i will not touch your stuff.
And if you think i did wrong i will gladly export all your mails and zip em down - hell if you had a forum at me, i'd export the DB and give it to ya, without even blinking :)
I have lots of friends ingame and lots of enemies, im even hosting a KB for some guys im shooting atm - you dont see me cry and delete their KB because of that - im not like that ;)
However the actions done by The Requiem and The Requiem leadership pushed me over the edge, so far i had only one choise - and that was to jump. And oh, jump i did.
Jumped to hard i wrecked their entire alliance forum/kb backbone for a few hours to a day. All in all - im quite happy with that.

The forums were down for 10 minutes. As for the killboard, welp. Easy come, easy go. We'll make a new one.
The only actions done by the leadership were that they decided to use a different forum software / forum host. You and everyone who vouched for you then left the alliance, and I really don't see a reason why you should have access to our forums and IRC at that point. Do all 90 or so corps you host killboards for let you into their forums / IRC? Sad excuse.

So what your saying is you was hosting RQM killboard for a favour for someone who is no longer in the alliance. And all the people who trusted you have left the alliance and different leadership is in control and you wonder why they don't want you hosting stuff? when your story clearly shows no one left in the alliance really trusts you. Would tri let some random member of RQM host there killboard and sit on their irc i very much doubt it! And you made money out of hosting the killboard from gtc sales? and since you host 90 killboards already one more probably isn't alot of work? Are you on irc with every killboard customer you have is that a requirement for hosting stuff?
Sure sounds like a just reason for you to publish my personal email I pay for on purpose to keep it out of public eye and so I don't get spammed. Thanks alot!

Edit- As in I'm looking at the sql dump right now, the passwords are technically there but would take absolutly forever to crack even one of them, probably would be a whole shitload faster to just go and bruteforce to see who uses thier username as thier pw instead of bothering to do this if they really wanted access to your forums.
with a good dictionary/password cracker the easier/dumber passwords (probably 90% of the forum passwords out there) shouldn't take too long to crack. Anyway... lol.

No grudges here particular.
I would however, love to sink my teeth into IAC again. Great way to start out, see what numbers we can achieve, against a foe that isn't particularly challenging.
Start out on their border systems, away from F4R (whereby we inevitably witness the CVA blob as backup), and see how that goes. -A- is overrated, always have been. Evil Thug is overrated.
Smashkill is tempting too (well, what is left of them), but can't imagine them posing a serious challenge in their current form.
2, 3, 5 - I simply don't think that we have the numbers to combat them currently. See how the turnout is against one of the alliances above, and then move from there.
7. I've a feeling that PL might have what is coming to them soon enough, and they'll find themselves without a significant foothold in Fountain. BDCI - Phoenus Posts: 24 Joined: 19 Jun 2008, 23:11

AFAIK, Karb's presence on IRC was addressed directly to him by Daco earlier. When I saw him still there a bit later (non-alliance guy in an alliance IRC channel) I kicked him. I can see how this might be... confusing?
As for the Daisho comparisons, I'm sure Darth can speak for his alliance just fine. If I wanted ultimate powah over anything, I'd be telling people to go outside and paint my fence or something actually useful.
Never had an issue with you personally, Karb; you just didn't belong in the IRC channel and several people had already asked me about it. This level of emo is fairly awesome tho. Any 'domain selling' issues had nothing to do with me because that's just not my area (me like fasts internetz stuffs). That was between Dakisha and you AFAIK. *shrug*
BDCI - STFU.
EDIT - Did this 'dump' also expose all the info for the TRI guys as well who were on that old forum? -

I can understand and even support the move to take the forum and killboard down. After all, you spent your real money making them and keeping them running, you should get something for that. However, you should have sent eve mails to people in that Alliance to at least try to get something for your troubles. I'm sure that someone would have been willing to pay you.
However, the decision to post the e-mails and pw's of all the people on the forum is worse than low. You made things personal for everyone in that alliance. People who had no idea what was going on are going to be hurt just because you posted that stuff. And the effects aren't just going to be felt today, what you did will continue to plague people with spam and hacking attempts for months to come. To me, you are worse than any corp theif or scammer out there. At least those people target individuals and the hurt they cause effects them immediately.
If I were in your current alliance I would boot you asap. If you betrayed the trust and friendship of your old alliance over this, who's to say you won't do the same to your current alliance/corp. However, that's their decision in the end. And as for using your service... You expect people to use your services knowing that if they do anything to offend you ever, you'll post their info to the public. lol yeah right.
In the end, you didn't just mess over every individual in that alliance, you probably hurt yourself(in future revenue) too

I am willing to bet every pilot in TRI and a crapload outside of it will still to this day vouche for karb. He is a standup guy who puts in a crapload of RL time and effort into alot of peoples things, and doesn't ask for hardly anything back. Would take alot to scorn him, this isnt as simple as alot of people are making it out to be, saying it was just him getting kicked from TS that caused it.
Whether you agree with what he did as a result matters not. Everyone put their info in his hands, just like they put their reputation in their ceo/corp/alliances hands, more or less.
End of story is: karb, how you doin? <3 ___________________

All it took to scorn your BFF is to deny him from reading RQM's alliance IRC. That's a real stand up guy, alright.
You're right, I don't think anything about RQM seems simple with all the drama surrounding it, but this was just plain stupid on his part, and those people defending him look just as stupid. Put yourself in the position of the actors and think about what you might have handled differently. Think about how your alliance might feel in a similar situation.

To everyone who loves me, i love you too ;) <3
That being said, i will not or have not betrayed _ANYONE_ i host stuff for before, and i probably never will. But the way The Requiem handled this was abysmal, it was lower than low.
I talked on IRC with Dakisha about what to do with the domain, and nothing came out of that really - a day or so later i talked about it again, and we began talking about me transfering it over - and i said i didn't want to do that without getting something for the domain itself. Which was actually today, at which time i had the domain for aprox. 14 days total.
At that time Dakisha laughed and denied it - IRC Logs -> (17:06:48) (Dakisha) for the domain (17:06:52) (Dakisha) is the transfer key (17:07:03) (Karbowiak) what? (17:07:09) (Karbowiak) you want me to transfer the domain over ? (17:07:14) (Dakisha) thought that was the plan (17:07:45) (Karbowiak) well, just seems a bit unfair that i give it to ya after i bought and spent money on it :\ (17:07:51) (Dakisha) lol (17:07:52) (Dakisha) forget it (17:07:54) (Dakisha) I'll just reg the .com
After that i didn't talk much more about it, rest is pointless (full logs will be available if you scream about it). a little later on the requiem channel this happens.

They then did... nothing useful... in Daisho and were asked to depart, on friendly terms to be sure... but asked to depart nonetheless... then they joined some other alliance... and left... then joined requiem... and we see where that is going.
Also, as to Karb? Who, by the way, owns the domain? Serves RQM right. He bought it, he hosted it, he built it. With his own time and money. Least RQM could do if they wanted to keep the stuff is to pay him for it free and clear. Demanding it for free is just stupid. Karb is a standup guy and quite generous to be honest. When I was interested in trying out using EVEDEV KB instead of Griefwatch he set one up for me for free to try. Didn't work out but he put in a lot of effort helping me figure out how to get the mails to it. BDCI trying to badmouth him after what he tried to do for RQM is just low.
What's sad is I was once a huge MC fan and really respected them. It's actually kind of gut-wrenching seeing what they've turned into. .

That being said, i will not or have not betrayed _ANYONE_ i host stuff for before, and i probably never will. But the way The Requiem handled this was abysmal, it was lower than low.
I can't believe you think people are going to trust or respect you after this. Lower than low? You're talking about an IRC ban. Grow a bigger e-peen, yours is pretty Cartman to pull a stunt like this and expect people to be like "aw yeah, I stand by my bro, he did the right thing".

I don't think the issue was free and clear. There is a significant difference between paying transfer fees for a domain (or even allowing nameservers to be changed, a process which is free), and trying to "auction" off the domain to get cash for something you volunteered.
Also, tar xvfz ~/phpbb* and killboard and adding 5-10 lines to httpd.conf is nothing special. Let's not pretend that the guy martyred himself for the cause or anything, or that Req screwed him out of some colossal sum of money.
Why does Tri hate RQM FC's so much? That would be a way more productive use of CAOD time

Why do you feel he should just eat the cost of the domain though? That's what baffles me. He bought the domain and they wanted him to just *give* it to them. Sure they'd pay the 'transfer' fees (which is fine) but didn't want to refund him the money he spent on the domain itself? Like I said, that's lame.
Dunno why Tri doesn't like BDCI's FCs, to be honest. I've flown with BDCI enough that I mostly like their FC's, but they aren't god's gift and there are certainly equally good, if not better, FC's in the game. .

I misspoke. I think they should have paid him the money for the domain and the transfer fees. I don't think they should have paid him something ridiculous, like $300 or $500 or $1000 or whatever.

The 'evidence' is that you were kicked from an IRC channel and then you dumped the entire old forums in an emorage. From what I understand, this also potentially includes info about every member of the four TRI corps who had registered on it as well. -

STFU Requiem. You could of been adults about it, and paid the guy, or worked something out for it. No reason someone should "donate" their time, and then "donate" the domain name they purchased, after leaving the alliance. Should of worked that out before banning him.
IMO, its his server = his information. Least he didn't put a picture of tubgirl on the main page.

Let me get this straight. Mr Karbowiak leaves RQM for TRI, gets upset that he's kicked from the RQM channels (duh!) and dumps the SQL database in an emoragefit.
An SQL database that not only contains RQM data, but data of every TRI member as well?

The pws are hashed btw, not plaintext so he really didnt do much there.
Google a hash, if it is a common phrase chances are you'll find out what it is. But nice to release the email addresses as well.
TRI, you can defend him all you want to. Just hope he doesn't leave your alliance and be upset about it eh?
I know what a hash is thank you .
They are all salted and there arent many rainbow tables that can do more then 8 characters, so yeah it is possible to bruteforce from there, but its not like its particuarly easy (though yeah, it probably will be done eventually).

I just can't reason why you were even on IRC. Perhaps you wanted to continue your incessant whinging about how we all ought subscribe to yet another Karbo-service. I hear he tried to host your sexyness but couldn't get anything but a 404 page not found error to display! :)
On a serious note here.
I'm a bit stunned tbh. People were concerned about Karb being in IRC. I said to him that he couldn't stay on IRC as he wasn't in Alliance anymore.
Karb replies that he's trying to find out what to do about the domain and hand it over then goes "afk". I get back on in the evening and Karb's still in irc despite us asking him not to sit there. He's got Dakisha's MSN and doesn't need IRC to get in touch with Dakisha. Sel boots him or something and karb returns. I kickban him and he returns again - I fail at teh irczors.
karb then decides to get his own back on the alliance who treated him so terribly. wtf!!!!!
As for CELES not trusting him - I said (and anyone with the sql dump knows my username and pw on the old forums so can check this) that if CORA were fine with Karb, CELES were fine with Karb. Cora leaves the alliance and I'm NOT fine with karb sitting on our IRC channels - not when they're supposed to be secure.
The saddest thing about this is that whilst we probably could and should have handled the handover better you've proven every concern raised about your stewardship and reliability as a host correct. If you'd dumped my details, seleene's details etc I'd understand a little tbh. We were after all the "bad guys" in this.
the way you ****ed over a ton of people who had no involvement however - well that's disappointing.
If you want to discuss this any further feel free to contact me via MSN or Eve - you've got my details. I rarely post here - in fact I rarely even check here - it's 90% of the same people saying 90% of the same thing.
Fly safe ex-Tri boys - I'll miss you and I wish you'd stayed. I still have much <3 for SuperTwinky and his faceraping antics :)

17:36 <Dakisha> the silence is me being tired + @ work 17:36 <Dakisha> and not having time to look @ irc every 2 mins
So I was tired and didn't get a chance to talk to you that evening; this somehow justifies ****ing over a whole alliance, not just those who you have issues with.
Very dissapointed.

Karb--you let your ego get too wrapped up in the forums and killboards and then you react impulsively. Basically it boils down to this: if BDCI is involved, watch your back at all times....especially if they tell you to stage ships and prepare for "an epic fight". If you take the time to look, you will see them evacuating their assets out as you are staging your ships and you will be left wondering where the f$*@k they are as you try to fight "the epic fight" alone
