K1ng Rage Bene Dominus Knights	Posted - 2008.07.11 17:23:00 - [1] I am currently a minmatar character. I thinking about going into 0.0 to mess around solo. I plan on using a tempest for doing sniping at gates and stations and a typhoon for upclose combat. Is Minmatar good for this? Or is it better to train for a Megathron and domi or amarr and get an apoc, geddon or abaddon? Cheers

Norwood Franskly Minmatar Fleet of the Damned Dark Trinity Alliance	Posted - 2008.07.11 17:29:00 - [3] I wouldn't solo pvp in a battleship, their too slow at aligning and warping out, you may get some kills but in most parts of 0.0 you engage someone on a gate or at a station you'll get tackled and a huge blob will come fight you either that or you'll get camped in the system probed out and killed pretty quickly. You'd have more fun and be harder to kill flying something like a HAC. People whine about vagabonds but their pretty good for the role your talking about.

But have pretty much always flown battleships.

Become generic Minmatar number 504,302 On a serious note. If you want sniper, nothing beats the rokh for distance, it throws things rediciously far, the mega is decent at this aswell. The minmatar BS's and BC's are nice at throwing out damage, projectile guns = <3

However, its only going to kill slow and stupid targets. I really wouldn't recommend this for 0.0, you will soon find out why. Solo 0.0 you need to be in a T2 cruiser really, a cane could do a decent job at it too.

And btw, seeing as you're minnie I'd use the phoon in all situations since it's extremely versatily in the sense that it can deal with all ship classes efficiently (excl. caps obviously)

The Harby puts out more DPS than the Cane, and the EM resist complaint people used to use no longer applies. Once you get to the battleship/capital level, nothing really gets close to Amarr power. A solo Pest or Mael could 2 shot a lot of ships, but not any more. The action you're looking for would be better suited for a HAC or Recon, which Minmatar supply some of the best options for. In 0.0 as a solo hunter you're looking for ratters, industrial ships, and other easy targets. You'll also want to be both mobile, and pack a cloak because once local intel gets posted about you, you can sure someone is coming to remove you. Only Minmatar BS capable of that would be a nano-torpPhoon. 4 Torps, 3 Nuets, 1 Cloak + Nano fittings, and about 25mil skill points to make it worth your time and effort.

Maelstrom and Pest are outsniped by just about everything. Maelstrom cant fit tackle gear with its tank. They all suffer from falloff issues. They are all out ganked by amar and gallente. Id say go amar.

Cheers dont listen to any of the haters pest is cool. it used to be better but it can still get the job done pest is a decent sniper (yeah there are better) but if you have support for snipe go maelstrom typhoon will make a great all rounder. get your ship and drone skills up, let the missile skills take the backseat (but dont ignore them). phoon is still one of the best, if not the best solo battleship imo rock out w/ yer **** out. ignore the ignorant ------------------------------ of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most

But if you want solo I recommend amarr/gellente... Though the phoon could solo I guess. Which ship you choose on gellente or amarr is dependent on your play style. megathron-closerange blaster dps. Domi-drones and tank at medium range. Hyperion-same as mega, just more versatility in the mids and its an active tank. Geddon-med-closerange dps. Apoc-sniper. Abaddon-great for duals/station hugging/ hugging a nearby source of cap boosters and rep whilst playing king of the hill.

Minmatar are the cruiser race. Yes the 'phoon is a good BS minmatar wise and skilled up is deadly but, in my experiances, good for station camping or station camp busting. To take it out solo in lowsec/0.0/in times of war is just like painting a big red target on the sides and hollerin' "Please pop this ship!". Minmatar excel at cruisers. Speed and agility shine in the mini cruiser line and make them MUCH more viable if you want to go solo cruising/hunting. --------------- Nerf You! Buff Me!
