Yup. More of that sort of thing. How can I belittle them if I know nothing about them?

I don't roleplay in EVE, but I do enjoy reading the background material. I'd like to see this as well.

Yep agreed. I'll bring it to the agenda for meeting 8 (the one after this one).

Edited by: Dex Nederland on 20/07/2008 15:25:21 In general more actual knowledge about the background of Eve will be a benefit to the RP community. Example Why are the Achura even part of the Caldari State in terms of background? It is a basic piece of information that is important to how Achura play their characters and everyone is guessing at why.

Supported. While stories are nice, a bit of Encyclopedia Galactica would be nice, too.

While some of you may not like this, I would also like to see this kind of prime fiction introduced not for roleplayers but for everybody. I am a very casual roleplayer, as in, roleplaying for me is a simple way to stave off occasional boredom.
When this kind of foundation PF is introduced it needs to be introduced in a manner that is valuable for roleplayers and non-roleplayers alike. It should be very concise, not packed with all kind of taleweaver vaguery and other such bullshit. Tell us whats up, in depth, but without a ton of "leave you guessing" nonsense. |

The Jin-Mei don't even have the luxary of a player group writing stories for them, to my knowledge. (The Chinese influence from the descriptions is fairly blatent but that's it.)
And how about the Mannar? They've been part of the PF since the begining yet there's nothing from them.

I vote in favor of information. While the little stories are fun, and I've especially appreciated the most recent four about the current leaders of the factions, I would love to see some actual background information be published.

Interesting. If you do a search for "vherokior" all that comes back are numerous threads asking, "Where's our back story."
And in the big lead up to FW, the unplayed Krusual tribe got more attention than Vherokior. You'd think our characters' tribes didn't exist.

I support any initiative that would increase the amount and depth of Eve's prime fiction.

Edited by: Zan Maruke on 13/08/2008 16:14:09 Was browsing chatsubo today and found this link. What were the results of this discussion? Will there be some PF about the third races?
Recent returnee here and former Royal Knight of Khanid. I wrote some 'correspondence' that reflected the rather pragmatic, nationalistic, view of the cyberknight faction (as I saw it) a couple years ago for the library here. Also had some good discussions with The Cosmopolite and Ardor over at chatsubo as well discussing some of the, as yet, inexplicable contradictions in the culture described for the mainline Khanid and that for the Amarrians.
Common use of cybernetics among the Khanid when access to cybernetics is jealously guarded by Amarrian nobility/priesthoods.
A religious Zealot faction seen as odd by ordinary Khanid leading one to assume most Khanid aren't particularly dogmatic or even orthodox (especially considering the question of how their own King flew in the face of Amarrian tradition to lead them).
Less xenophobic than mainline Amarr which lead to the technological and trade ties with the Caldari State.
I'm kind of curious how all this fits together. I've certainly had to cobble together Zan's own views so that I could even RP him (he played a rather vocal part in the Khanid carrier incident a while back) and set him up as, as best I could tell, a stereotypical Cyberknight since it seemed few others were RPed that way.
Mistrustful of the Empire, wary of reunification, proud of his Kingdom's, as personified in the King, deeds and successes, more open to other races and ideas (especially Caldari) but also holding to a code of honor.
What was hardest for me, though, was figuring out what kind of religious views he might have. Clearly the Khanid can't cleave to Amarrian orthodoxy. Their own King just left the trials and did his own thing. On the other hand, they did shelter some of the most radical and fanatic fundamentalists for a long while and do have their own Zealot faction.
The other question for me is the political stance of the Kingdom. The King's a pretty wise fellow to keep a low profile and let the other empires burn out fighting each other but you have to imagine there are political fault lines forming up now. Unionists want to aid Amarr. Cyberknights are probably more in the Caldari camp.

Was on the agenda 2 weeks ago but the meeting had to finish before it was addressed. I moved it to the agenda for the coming meeting (on sunday) and it will get raised there.

One more, for the hell of it. I have fond memories of reading the Chronicles when I first played EVE - they were part of the lure for me. I'd even like to see some more information regarding the Intaki too.

Is there any update on the issue?
Oh, and yes, signed. The background for the third bloodlines was promised more then two years ago, but then pushed back and forgotten.
