Originally by: Hellspawn666 One thing can stop such a massive cap fleet, and thats the servers. That many carriers/motherships dropping fighters will pretty much instant burn the server. Bare in mind the Fighters cause alot of lag as to the server it counts as much as a player so lets say each carrier has 9 fighters and MS has 15. If even just 200 of that fleet are carriers and 30 are MS then thats the server having to deal with efficvly 2500 players or more just for that fleet.
But i do what your getting at although i dislike the way you have said it, as a support player in the past the support fleet made up a large portion of the fleet as it was possible to take out small cap groups with support ships, as such caps without support = very dangouras, but nowadays with such large amounts of cap blobs there is too much lag for a support fleet so whereas the cap pilot might have 2 minutes to respond before hes dead a BS pilot has only 30 seconds, not to mention fighters going around doing their own thing.
So where is the role for support ships in largescale PVP? Well i would say personally its been exemplified the last few days by the fact the bob cap fleet is unable to do very much due to most systems being cyno jammed. Support is the only way to kill a cyno jammed system so they still have a pretty hefty role, maybe not as integral as before but still important.
Dont forget about the fact that the servers also have to load some 250 odd corp hangers in the carriers plus the items in them plus the rights to access the individual hangers e.t.c for each member of the fleet.
But its ok its all part of ccp's 'need for lag' initiative.

Originally by: Zombie Network A large factor for Iron's success against MAX is that they can use multiple Titans of their own in cynojammed systems. It is extremely difficult to take down a cynojammer POS with a BS fleet when its defended by 2-3 Titans and a whole bunch of carriers/motherships who can put capital-reps on the jammer/each other while you are being shot at by a fully armed deathstar and could be DD'd at any time.
One or two Titans is manageable, more than that and things start getting stupid.
There is simply no way to balance a weapon that can kill hundreds of players in a single button press, the doomsday should just be completely removed and replaced with another ability that makes the Titan a monster fleet support vessel (I like the idea of setting it up as a mobile POS, giving you a capital staging area in systems where you cannot put down a POS).
Cynojammers + multiple titans will ruin 0.0 if it is allowed to continue like this.

This is all pure theory (capital, titan numbers).
In reality, 200v200 fleet battles are unplayable for many people now and in those fights 20% of the people can actually do something with their ship, the rest are loading/relogging/dying without seeing anything. I've had the great "fun" listening on TS during some recent engagements where it took 80 BS 3-4 minutes to kill the primary because most of them were unable to do anything, in the mean time I saw nothing for 20 minutes even though I wasn't even on the same grid.
Meanwhile, CCP spams all the MMO sites with more ads for free play - this is why EVE is becoming unplayable.
How to PVP: 1. buy ISK with GTCs, 2. fit cloak, learn aggro mechanics, 3. buy second account for metagaming

Step 1: Have CCP make a portable array (like a warp bubble, but not that) that gains signal strength over time.
Step 2: When said array is up and running long enough, capitals can jump to it.
Step 3: Assemble a fleet of Titans of your own.
Step 4: ???????
Step 5: Profit

Originally by: Ed Gein This sort of highlights a fundamental flaw in the whole POS warfare idea. It was expected that introducing a system that requires such tedious fuel management, and time consuming effort to assemble that it would help shrink down alliances, and kill blob warfare because alliances would be smaller. CCP stated multiple times that they wanted to shrink down alliances before POS's came out, now that epic failed, you never hear CCP mention it anymore.
This was just a matter of CCP underestimating the EVE player base. Instead, there are hardcore dedicated people out there that do nothing but maintain alliance POS's and cap ship yards. This then allowed the alliances to expand out to controlling multiple regions and defeated the purpose of POS's entirely.

Never underestimate the stubbornness and masochism of Eve players.
