Alright, many are going to flame and call me a carebear for this, but...
Shouldn't there be a warning message before entering a FW zone that is going to WTFBBQ you in about three seconds because you signed up for the wrong militia?
Yes, I did get blown up, and yes I should have checked the system before I entered, but it's just a pain in the as* to check every system before you enter it.
Consider this, a new player signs up for FW, thinking he's going to go blow up some doodz. He makes one wrong jump, and his brand new shiny ship gets blown up. Why did my ship get blown up? Why does everyone hate me? *ragequit*
It's not much different from the 0.0 warning or 0.4- warning.
Thoughts?

i was fairly certain that when u enter lows sec space for the first time a box came up asking if u were sure u wanted to go there. It may be for 0.0 space, its been so long since ive seen that box.

The box is still there and it warns you when you enter anything lower than 0.5.

Wait...what, you signed up for Faction Warfare....and now you want the game to warn you that you might be about to engage in...Faction Warfare in contested lowsec?

Edited by: Banana Torres on 13/07/2008 05:41:30 This thread makes me a very sad Banana.
Sad cause of the type stupidity shown by the OP is becoming all too common in the Eve player base.
But mostly sad cause of the corporation he is in, how the mighty have fallen.
On the bright side, I see that the once mighty Privateers have chosen to side with the Caldary, so I will get a chance to kill them and teach them the error of their ways.

Perhaps he's talking of something totally different from what you assume, and in stead want's warnings before entering empire space belonging to the _enemy_ faction.
Thus it is a completely valid request in line with the warnings on entering low-sec, and it is the people that replied with Hello Kitty Online and other trollish things that are what is sadly getting all to common in Eve.

100% agree
Also maybe ... just MAYBE ask in your milita channel first if you are unsure? Or have a LOOK at the map for blobs and kills?
What did you expect if you enlist yourself in a WAR?!!

He is not talking about lowsec where the wars are being fought...
He is talking about accidentally jumping into a hisec system that is controlled by an enemy faction thus getting your ship blasted out from under you by the faction cops.
Regardless, the OP could have likely received a warmer reception had it been worded better and posted in the features and ideas forum instead of GD. -=^=-

Get a map, familarize yourself with your surroundings. Know the names of the Enemits HiSec entries for your area of operations.
When it doubt, right click set as next waypoint and see what it says.

Edited by: Antarr Slagh on 13/07/2008 06:35:05 Yes, this is about high-sec. Not lowsec. I'm talking about entering a Gall system and getting destroyed.
Again, if they have it for 0.0/low-sec...
E: And no, I'm not stupid. I didn't sign up for FW, warp into a complex and start crying. I just want better notice if I'm entering a Gall/Minnie system.

k, but when u jump into an enemy high sec system a box comes up saying that the faction navy will kill you. Basically you just need to look at the map; aka plan ahead. eve has no place for those who want the easy method

Fine, then lets remove the warnings from low-sec and 0.0.

Guess what? The enemy fleet can kill you ANYWHERE. Awhile ago I heard the Gallente were camping Jita.
Implementing your plan would be akin to having a new feature for corps at war that would display a warning WHENEVER THEY JUMPED ANYWHERE.

I wasn't killed by the enemy fleet. I was killed by the new Concord or whatever is in place now. I wasn't shot by players. It was by the NPCs. I'm not sure if you know this, but whenever you enter a Minnie or Gall system, if you're Amarr or Caldari, you get SHOT.

Who said anything about flying AFK. They web you. I stupidly, tried to make it back to the same gate I came in from. Still, no one has provided a good reason for why there shouldn't be a warning.

This doesnt happen... Ive done this and they hit like girls, doesnt warp scramble and takes a good while to actually even start firing on you. They are no threat unless you get warp scrambled by a evil player.
Ive actually sat at gates in the border systems myself, trying to scramble. But after an hour or so of every war target being in a fast warping ship, I left. Still I think some players probably makes the mistake of jumping in with a slow ass ship until they learn their lesson by getting killed.

And it doesn't matter. There should be a warning anyway.

I have to admit I didnt remember that faction navy could shoot you if you were part of the militia, so the first time I jumped into a enemy system and got that message, I was kind of worried of getting scrambled.
But after a couple of times, now I just enjoy the thrill of it.

Weird, I had corp members tell me this, yet when I tried it I nearly got bbq'd before I could mwd back to the gate.
Edit: And I'm not some noob who mistook players for factional navies, these were certainly npcs. ________

Maybe they hit large ships much harder. Im usually in t2 frigates. Jumping in with a slow ship is not something that seems wise.

If you're using autopilot you can see on your screen what the name of the next system is, what constellation it is in and, most importantly, what region it is in. Knowing the region name is enough to know who has sovereignity there (unless you started playing yesterday).
