If your god does indeed exist then this argument proves that it isn't omnipotent. It has to obey the rules of this universe, which means that this god of yours can't cut the price of gasoline...unless it puts on a suit and take san active role in the world economy.
On a slightly lighter note: if your god is perfect and he created us in his own image then howcome people frequently bite the inside of their mouths by accident? Could this be the work of Satan? 
Actually these are all lies, the God exists yet is not aware of its own existence.
Point in context, God lives a normal life, has been raised by (note the powers of god allow the creation of time travel and hence at point 0 when god gained subconscious awareness of existence, the start of the universe -14*10^9 was brought into existence im a paradox) in a normal environment and hence reality exists because this is what god expects.
Naturally, to keep order god must believe itself in a higher status of being (aliens, gods, ESPers) to maintain the paradox of such a beings existence yet not aware of it as to hence accidentally delete/rebuild the universe.
Essentially, keeping the illusion of religion, aliens, time travel and espers is preferential to the mighty Haruhi running amok

Oh this is epic, Liang, I can't find fault with Dietrich yet to be honest.
Take a look at when Christianity came into being (lets ignore all other religions for the moment) as a religion. Now which European superpower was on the decline and grasping for straws to stay afloat? The Roman Empire, if you are familiar with copypasta you will note the similarities between Isis and the Virgin Mary.

To explain, sun is the centre of the ancient world and hence the sun was worshipped as a god.
Star sign Virgo (the virgin) is in alignment with a constellation known as in the modern tongue, "the three kings" near midwinter.
The sun is seen as god. Northern Hemisphere the winter solstice is observed around late December. On the Sun/god is seen as dyeing as the days grow shorter, eventually stopping sinking on the day before through to the day after the solstice. The constellation above this as it happens is the Crux.... go figure.
That's 3 days of solstice, then days start getting longer again - the sun god has resurrected!
