If we are only allowed to train one character at a time with the cost of our subscriptions, why can't we pay more on our accounts to be able to train 2 characters or even 3 at a time?

Wow, I actually like this idea. I am, I'm sure, one of the few players that doesn't like to "two-box." It would be nice if I could still pay a little extra to train two characters on a single account, or even 3, with a single payment. Then I could just switch between characters on the same account, with one install on my computer. I could specialize some characters in different areas that are generally unrelated.
Again wow, I like this idea.

This is pretty much what the whole two-account deal was. If you have two accounts, you can train simultaneously on both characters. Expensive, but it accomplishes the same. Be nice if it was a dollar or two more per character though instead of a whole new 15 USD per account.

Signed / I like this idea. But at the end of the day its all a about money to CCP. They want to keep us 50% happy / 50% unhappy so we are willing to pay more to get what we feel we need to have fun in the game. I think being able to set training skills on all 3 toons at the same time has been long overdue but CCP is to afraid that there pockets will get smaller if you allow people to only need one account.
I mean look at how much of a failure those poor Guys over at blizzard are for letting there players have as many toons and they wanted and train them all at the same time....
....hey wait a minuet ?!?! Happy customers mean more customers.....now that's an idea.

also in the same sort of vain why not let us play 2 characters on one account but only train one for those who need a hauler for mining or cloaked indy to store your loot while ratting in 0.0 but dont ever want to train it more than that (would prolly end buddy account abuse id think)
these 2 idea are obviously mutually exclusive as you cant have both or that would b having a second account for free i would prolly even pay more just for this feature (obviously not anywhere near the price of a full second account)
or maybe basic account should 15$ ability to train extra characters X$ per character and ability to run extra at the same time Y$ per character and extra slots another small fee per slot eliminates people with multiple accounts having to have all the logins and stuff to deal with and it would work in as a discount over the current system for multiple account holders
just an idea (can u tell im bored at work)

Edited by: OneT on 16/07/2008 06:34:34 obviously not in the same session just mean you could use the same login to access multiple sessions and have all your characters available so 2 characters that are currently on the same account if u payed to b able to you'd be able to fly them both at once in seperate sessions
edit : in my opinion instead of remembering 3 or 4 different logins and paying 3 or 4 seperate subscriptions it would b easier and simpler just to have one

Keep in mind, people with two or more accounts can play those characters at the same time. I like this idea A LOT. I want to have another character I can train in case I get bored with the other. I, personally, don't like the idea of playing multiple accounts.

I'd think there would have to be a limit on using extra slots to 'character-farm'. Otherwise people will just use their extra slots to sell characters they never played.
Additionally, would you propose this be at a lesser cost? If so, why would CCP comply with that? What do they gain? Would it be at the same cost? Why would I want to pay the same price for something I can't use the same way as another character?
I don't see this as a win, either way.
I pay for three accounts because I want the flexibility that offers. I realize you're not saying to -require- people to do this, but what benefit would CCP get?

I have to agree that this would really only facilitate character farms.
One player may want to train an extra "research alt". They want a character who exists only for BPO research and manufacture, while their "main" delivers the minerals for use.
While almost every other player wants a Miner and a Hauler, working in tandem, to support the collection of those minerals for resale.
That's why the system has evolved into alt accounts, instead of single account alts. Because you can only play one character on an account at a time.
And again, for every one player with good intentions... there will be many more who say "I could train these other two slots, and sell them off after!" ---
Don't take my rantings personally. I may just be arguing the topic... unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. |

Your shipment of fail has arrived.
Blizzard has a limited number of characters per server(8) and a global limit(50), and you can only play one char per discreet account at a time. In essence its the same system. You can only gain XP on one char at a time and in eve you can only train one skill at a time. IN the end it is the same difference.

I say make it like 2/3 price. if it is $15 for an account then make it $10 to train another character on the same account. You still can't log in the other character so it saves on server load ideally. people will character farm or they won't. A lot of people who character farm have a second computer setup that they can use the new alt to do something on to earn isk while their main is busy. Maybe mining in an industrial or something else but this would eliminate that possibility.
Summary probably a low net effect on character farmers and handy for people who have a second computer.

my thoughts really where if character accounts cost 15$
extra slots 2$ each extra character training 8$ extra character use at a time 8$
buy them as a package for 15$ or have the option to pay more for just the bits you want (obviously i just pulled those price guesses out of thin air i think training a character is prolly worth alot more than character use as the guy up there ^ said to stop character farming)
for me the bonus would b i only want to run an unskilled hauler character or salvager character and cant justify spending another 15$ a month on it but if it was say 5 - 10 to play one of the other 3 characters on my account at aswell id do it

I like the idea in general. But I'm asking myself what CCP should do if one "cancels" the subscription of the additional character within this one account?
a) lock character? b) charge 20,- final "character play fee" to be in line with the standard behavior? If fee is not payed, delete the character?
Letting the user play with the character after "additional train subscription" has been chanceled isn't fair compared to standard "alts".
