Hi all,
Simple question - how do you show the frame rate (fps) in-game?
Was guessing something like /fps or /show_fps but they don't work :(
Thx, Res

Blame the UI. I have 25 fps with it, but once I turn it off (CTRL + F9), I get 45+ fps... too bad it's impossible to play without UI. :( --------------

20 fps in eve is smoother than 50 fps in UT2003 which is smoother than CS at 70 fps.

Yes. And there's no need for more, IMO.

His point might have been that EVE isn't a game where you need fps, not "EVE isn't a first-person shooter" FPS.
Same comment back at you.

60fps still looks nice though. the game must be capped (or something broke). 0xFSAA and 0xAF in 1024x768 runs the same for me as 6xFSAA and 16xAF in 1152x864 does. about 34fps for me (give or take). Roughly 20fps playing windowed. ________

If CS isn't smooth at 70fps then you're playing on the wrong servers mate...
The UI on Eve does seem to reduce fps significantly, but as I recall the devs have worked out why and are working on a fix. Fingers crossed.

Hit [Ctrl] + [Tab] instead. You lose all the chat windows etc. but you keep the ship GUI in the middle, and can right-click and do all the normal stuff. Still playable that way, especially if you communicate by TS. Improves frame rate a lot, about 40% on my extremely crappy Cpu.
Cons: you can't see who's on local or the scanner. You don't get any messages so you can't know if you're being warp scrambled etc. (unless you can see the gfx effect).

the cpu seems to be the bottleneck for most people in eve. i get the same fps in 800*600 as i get in 1280*1024. -------------------------------------------

Yeah. I get the exact same fps at A-A x0 & A-F x0 and A-A x4 & A-F x16.

29-32 fps, playing with a desktop res of 1280x1024 and Eve with 1152x864 windowed, 4xFSAA + 16xAF. _______________________________________________________________ [ 2004.04.14 12:26:17 ] (combat) <color=0xffbbbb00>Your 250mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon perfectly strikes Guardian Initiate, wrecking for 172.8 damage. |

Your monitor is probably set to 60Hz, and vertical sync is enabled. Set your monitor to a higher refresh rate, leave vertical sync on.
